Mass Effect: Infiltrator
One Tap Hero
Predators
StarPagga
GL Tron
That's what I've currently got on my Andy.
Scrambled net.
I have not included any paid app, or any app that actively promotes micro transactions.
Logic Dots and Two Dots are both top puzzle games and Duet, similar to super hexagon and frustratingly fun!
Risk(WP), The Room(iOS).. so far. Maybe Bullet Asylum on Windows Phone also.
The Room
The Room 2
Threes
Walking Dead / Wolf Amoung Us / Game of Thrones
Monument Valley
Hitman Go
7x7
KoToR
Plague Inc
Broken Sword I & II
Are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
So far the only game i play often on my android shield tablet is Pure Chess, Trine which came installed is good but better played on a big screen or PC. And seeing as Amazon diddled me out of half life 2, HL2 episode one and portal (it was supposed to be the green box) I will just have to stick to the PC versions.
Oh and pinball arcade is pretty good (nostalgic pinball) but you have to pay for each table you want.
The Bard's Tale is pretty amazing for a mobile game (I know it's a PC port, but still). As for more casual titles, I'd go for Archmage, Heroes of Loot, dots, Hazard Rush, Nimble Quest and Rayman: Jungle/Fiesta Run. And World of Tanks Blitz and Shadowgun: Deadzone are good multiplayer choices.
And then there are NDS, PSX, GBA and a lot of other platforms' emulators…
2048 is quite a good puzzle.
I also enjoy QuizUp, but you need a network connection.
Carmageddon is free for Android. Quite slow loading times and graphics aren't epic, BUT IT'S CARMAGEDDON!
None. Smartphones are meant for phoning, messaging and linking all kinds of accounts. PCs and consoles are for gaming. Gaming is done on 14"+ screens. The bigger the better.
Surprised nobody has mentiond the ‘Infinity Blade’ series of games yet. They have decent graphics and VERY good gameplay and a nice story to top it all off.
None, a waste of time. Read a book, enjoy a walk with someone you care about, go to a hike, cook something. There are a ton of better things to do that to stare at a tiny phone screen to play a game. Period.
I hate micro-transaction games… but that doesn't stop me playing some of them ^_^
Might have to check out some of the suggestions on this page.
Eh I remember Infinity Blade did have good graphics and decent gameplay but the story was pretty boring.
I personally am a RPG fan so games like FF3 and FF4 along with Chaos Rings are enjoyable.
I do also play Puzzles and Dragons and Terra Battle too. Terra Battle is quite slow with updates though so after getting my whole team to max level there aren't really any new dungeons to complete. Puzzles and Dragons on the other hand though I've spent quite a bit on ingame purchases and there's still a lot I haven't done. It's like Pokemon meets Candy Crush in that there's an objective to complete and you collect “monsters” which can be gods, dragons, devils etc. I don't see what's so fun about playing Candy Crush days on end when there's no real objective and nothing to collect.
In Puzzles and Dragons you have two leaders with different effects and then sub leaders to boost your team's utility and take down monsters by making combos. E.g. My favourite leader is batman and his ability is 3.5x boost to dark type attack when over 80% HP so if I use that leader and a friend uses batman too then that's 12.25x boost and basically I have to wipe out everything before they hit me. If I match dark orbs then I will do damage and then I can boost that further by matching more orbs and getting more combos.
Here's a quick vid for anyone interested:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68e0zYcIlYoThere's quite a lot of tactics involved. I mainly like to focus on all attack but there are teams to boost HP, to boost recovery etc. That's why I can never get bored of it and play it whenever I commute and have nothing else to do or something.
E.g. as listed in my vid description, my team consists of:
Batman
Byakko
Dark Metatron
Persephone
Hanzo
This means that on a monster with high HP, I use Persephone's skill to get extra dark orbs. As a board will have 6 types of orbs (Fire, Wood, Water, Dark, Light and Heart), if I convert light and heart to dark, then the board will be left with fire, wood, water and dark orbs only = 50% of the board will be dark = massive dark damage.
On the final boss, I use Byakko to change the whole board to dark fire and water orbs, then use Hanzo to change fire orbs to dark orbs, leaving roughly 66% of the board as dark and 33% as water on average. I then use Dark Metatron to enhance those dark orbs to boost each orbs damage up by 6% etc.
It might look easy with my team but there are obvious limitations. Bosses that hit you as a preemptive attack below 80% HP means that my damage would go down by 12.25x. This isn't a problem if I can heal it back up with enough heart orbs, but if the boss is on a 1 turn timer and hits you every turn below 80% then each turn I will be healing, only to be put down below 80% again and it's almost impossible to take a boss out with a normal 1x multiplier to damage.
Well enough of being a nerd.. :)
I'd say Dungeon Keeper 2 or Ultima Forever, but I couldn't possibly keep a straight face while doing so…. I actually do have some Sonic the Hedgehog game on my ancient Android, and it was moderately entertaining for the 10 or so minutes I expended on it. But as noted earlier, for some of us, gaming is meant to be done on screens of a larger size (I'm of the opinion that 24" is more the minimum, but that's just my preference.) That, and I'm a keyboard/mouse bigot.
Minion Rush and Candy Crush….
Although both are played by my kids and I don't really play them
Minion Rush. I'm totally hooked. They keep on adding new levels, so it never becomes too stale. Their are various challenges each week, on top of the normal game play. Furthermore, I haven't spent a penny on it with any of the pay-to-win micro transactions, and so earning upgrades takes a fair bit of patience to achieve, which is itself somewhat rewarding. It's a good time killer when I'm waiting for colleagues to complete their tasks, in order that I can complete mine.
“where's my water?”, on IOS
Really liked that game :)
And then there's wordfeud, which is also quite fun :)
You can usually find a decent version of any board/card/puzzle games you like (eg. Spider, Wordament). Minecraft PE is surprisingly good, even though it uses the bane of most mobile games… virtual joysticks.
Best thing I've bought recently though has been DraSticDS so I can get back into my Picross addiction.
Currently I've been playing Sonic Dash, which is pretty decent.
Sword and Sworcery was nice from an atmospheric/soundtrack point of view, though it didn't grip me sufficiently to complete it (yet…).
Radient Defense - great tower defence game and you don't need to buy addons to beat it.
none - enough said next topic
all the asphalt series games, if you are racing fan that is and also there are some good fps games in android such as modern combat series
Age of Empires Castle Seige. Pretty cool if you enjoyed the original AOE series on PC.
:)
Broken Sword (all of them)
NFS - Most Wanted
Real Racing
Plants v Zombies 2
Angry Birds Space
Quite like Madden Mobile
Sky Force (great with a Note's stylus)
World of Tanks (maybe)
Got some real bargains on humblebundle recently that have been great fun:
Broken sword 1&2
Room 1&2
Fieldrunners 1&2
Bloons TD 5
Between HB and amazon app stores free app of the day I've spent so little for quality gaming recently.
Plague Inc - Actually hard to master and win
10000000 - really addictive
2048
Creek
Flow
Plants vs Zombies
The Room 1 & 2 are fantastic, got the sequel on HumbleBundle and instantly bought the first game. They are a bit like “escape the room” games, but actually good.
I play a lot of Real Racing 3, despite the grim IAP and rife online cheating, it's a fairly solid racer.
Me and the mrs have been playing “Crossy Road” recently. Its essentially Frogger and it's annoyingly addictive. There's some IAP but all you can get are extra characters that you can mostly unlock for free anyway. Well worth a look.
Considering how much of my free time i spend gaming, i do next to none of it on my phone.
If i'm out and about, kindle app for books or Aurora (firefox) for web covers most things.
I do quite like the original carmegeddon game occasionally though.
Also started the F2P simcity buildit to help out a friend of mine via trading who is far more interested in it than i am. Certainly wouldn't ever recommend the game though :)
Ingress … its like digital crack …
Is it a game ?? Or a way of life lol
Clash of Clans, been playing on two accounts for about 18 months
I'm a big fan of Tower Defence games on the whole, so:
Kingdom Rush, Kingdom Rush Frontiers and Kingdom Rush Origins - all quite good, with a lot of side touches of humour, e.g. Bantha and Tuskens from Star Wars, items from the Sorcerer's Apprentice in Fantasia, Indiana Jones, etc. First two are highly recommended.
Jelly Defence - cutesy
Madness TD2 - good level of challenges, and there's weekly ones issued to keep the interest up.
Plants v's Zombies 2 - F2P, but watch out for the IAP's! It's very large and the difficulty does vary quite a bit - with the Big Wave Beach levels being a total PITA imho. Daily challenges keep it fresh.
And the current non-TD game is Two Dots - quite good for what it is, (F2P with IAP), but sometimes completing the level can be a bit hit or miss, depending on what starting position the game decides to give you.
Crossy, thanks for the recommendations, I'll give some of those a go.
For all the other Tower Defence addicts,
TowerMadness is well worth a try. The second game is more pleasing from a graphics perspective, but the original is more challenging. Available on iOS and Android, but not Windows, sadly.
crossy
I'm a big fan of Tower Defence games on the whole, so:
Kingdom Rush, Kingdom Rush Frontiers and Kingdom Rush Origins
I'll second those choices. I've played the first two quite a lot - however I really wish Defender's Quest was available for mobile devices as that's my favourite TD game.
World of Tanks Blitz is good but just makes me want to fire up the far better PC version instead. Also that would be tablet only - I would think that a phone's far too cramped.
Breach & Clear (a grittier Frozen Synapse) - played that a lot on my Nook, but think that's another one that would be hellish fiddly on a sub 7" screen.
Sid Meier's Ace Patrol - This is available on iOS but not on Android, so I have only played the PC version. It is a very smart little top down air combat game.
The X-Com games (enemy within now released for mobiles is the go-to) are basically the full console release shoehorned into a smartphone. Considering the console version was game of the year… that should be a no brainer.
EXCELLENT version of the game, literally full on console port, no corners cut, an interface that's pretty much perfect for touch screen (scrolling around can be a BIT of a chore but otherwise…) it also eats your phones battery for breakfast as it's using pretty much every last scrap of processing power your phone can provide.
Highly recommended though.
