I saw nothing wrong with it….they were blatantly having a laugh. Quantum entanglement and WiiU being the fastest nextgen platform…..come on…..you don't need to be that clued-up to see the fun in it.

ROFL

I don't have a WiiU, but I can see there's a market there for certain game types, and hell - why not if you like that kind of thing.

Of course, the sad thing is that EA itself makes poorly optimised, rushed out games and pushes them solely on their woeful excuse for a gaming platform. I was given BF4 as a gift, and I tried to like it - I certainly gave it a fair chance - but there were just so many things wrong with it, including poor performance on high end hardware, game-breaking bugs, Origin, broken squad/friends system on launch, ‘immersion’ which completely ruined gameplay… I could go on.

Perhaps before EA makes jokes at the expense of others - even ‘mildly amusing’ jokes like this- they should look towards fixing their own systems and titles first…

is the singular “fan” a typo or Freudian slip? Or is there only 1 fan?

It's a joke at a potential partner's expense. That's just bad business. They might not be partners this round but EA are trying not to be seen as silly enough to cut themselves off from future work.

It was nt even funny - and as Kalneil said , EA are in it for the long term , so why cut off a potential future market - now as a show of good measure , they should release a game or 2 on wiiu…. crisis and bf4 for example ;)

Just comes across as childish to me.

Amusingly I do own a Wii-U but looking down the list don't seem to own a single Frostbite game. I do note with interest though that Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare is listed as a Mantle enabled game?

Isn't the WiiU a year long April Fools joke anyway ? :) :)

It does seem a rather poor choice of April Fools joke on EA's part though, not particularly funny, a little bit too close to “reality” for an April Fool joke, as your average owner would have no clue that the WiiU couldn't run those games and would take it to be quite literally true.

It's only funny to those of us who know what the engine is and the limitations of the WiiU - and my dig at the start of this post aside, most of us are well aware that performance/power/graphics do not maketh a fun console or game anyway.

Now if only powerful pcs and “powerful” consoles could run their buggy pile of crap games like BF4 (although the game is good when it's working). Maybe they should implement better quality control for their comments like they do for their games and pull it three hours before release.

i dunno, no sense of humour some people.

I see no problem with the comments, and I say this as someone who's owned all Nintendo's home consoles from the SNES to the Wii.

I welcome MORE ridicule of Nintendo, so that hopefully Nintendo will get the message that it has to actually listen to its customers and the developers it wishes to get to code for its machines.

Still hoping that Nintendo will end the Wii's era sooner rather than later and completely rethink its hardware and software strategies for the better.

While it may seem like a standard joke to some, it does make it look like EA has no class or intention of working with Nintendo. The way the jokes are told is basically saying the WiiU is laughable, and incapable of hosting a big game. This isn't the type of joke you'd expect amongst friends but rather one you'd expect from a snippy co-worker who's had just enough to loosen their tongue. Their attitude toward the Wii U and Wii U owners over the past year or so has really soured my impression of them, which is unfortunate because if I ever chose not to support a game of theirs based on their insulting behavior, it'll just be shown that “Nintendo owners don't support 3rd parties”

I don't see a reason to apologize clearly it was just a bit of fun. =-)

Pot-kettle-black, and stones and glass-houses come to mind.

The real indignity here is not EA poking fun at WiiU, but the flippant jokes about HL3.
Srsly, not something to joke about. Could anyone imagine Fifa players with the unerring patience of Valve fans?

Now EA, as excuse make games for Wii U otherwise this was only mouth washing. Uh its still weak right, hang yourself EA…

The tweets were from the FrostbiteEngine account. Why would you be there if you had no idea about frostbite?

They took a shot at a company they have basically refused to work with. Sure it is not a great business decision too mock them ever, as they may work with them down the road. But then again the Wii U is there current console and it can't run there newest games so… April Fools Wii U will be the savior for all our poorly built triple A titles.

I see this as part admitting too making games that do not perform as well as they should and part making fun of Nintendo for not keeping up too the curve of triple A games.
Good news, we have finally fixed and optimized our ‘netcode’. Uses quantum entanglement for Zero Latency connections. Exclusively on #WiiU.

HL3 release date jokes are a day to day thing. Why would you get worked up over that on April fools?

It was a joke. I found it mildly funny.

i think they are the awful ones if they cant optimize their code for the Wii U then they are awful coders it should be seen as a challenge to get their code optimized for the Wii U, i mean look at Nintendo, their Mario Galaxy games look stunning and that was for the WII!!

It's nothing to do with that and everything to do with time:money ratio. Commercially, the WiiU isn't a great proposition for developers.

The frostbite 3 engine running on the WiiU would be hilarious. I can't see the raw power of the system being able to cope with what is going on. Short of redrawing the engine.

They should have made a joke about making a new engine for WiiU so it would run BF4. Call it CoolNibble and post screen shots from BF 1942 stating this is the best we can get the WiiU too do. Hell Nintendo is so far behind in the power curve and they know it. They just don't have to care because they are rich as hell and they have a strong yet declining market. There surplus is insane compared too Sony and Microsoft. They can take more consecutive losses than either of those other two companies could!
