Usually pretty liberal on such matters, but I find this one slightly disturbing, to be honest.

Well anything to improve the reaistic nature of games. Look at the difference between Counterstrike 1.6 and now Battlefield 4.

What about the game guns that were made for the PS2.

If you carry these game guns in real life, now that would be silly.

Don't give a monkeys how ‘realistic’ it looks (and it looks pretty Generic Tacticool Gun rather than replicating an actual firearm), but how good the motion sensing is. From all released information, it looks like it offers orientation-only tracking via an IMU. For $250, that REALLY doesn't cut it.

Doesn't show how you move about in game, presumably there is an analogue stick sticking out of the side of it somewhere?

Add me to the ‘disturbed’ group.

In my opinion, it's 100% fine for sane and well adjusted adults to use these things, we know it's a *toy* for a *game* and that nothing we are doing is at all realistic.

Problem with these more realistic toy things as always is when they find their way into the hands of children and/or crazy nutjobs, and that's very hard to prevent. It's the same argument as the counter-terror stuff, how far do you limit the freedom of the masses in order to prevent a tiny minority from doing crazy things…

It's a replica that conforms to the law (orange tip) how is this any worse than any other replica/toy out there with an orange tip? For a country so obsessed with guns I think it's funny they are bothered about it ('they' being very general of course)

I think the analogue stick is on the foregrip, wouldn't mind trying one, but I don't think it's worth the price tag.

Yes, the analogue stick, d-pad and the start & select buttons are on the foregrip… http://www.thedeltasix.com/images/products/d6-gun-joystick.jpg

To anyone who is “disturbed” by this gun; Try going to a paintball store. Go to an airsoft match. Heck I can go up to my local Canadian Tire and find toy paintball and toy airsoft guns that look more realistic than this gaming controller.

I would understand the worry from parents, but what about airsoft? Here in Canada we don't need orange tips, but we do have some gray laws of which I don't this will stop this form coming in. In the states? Throw in the quarter-inch blazing tip and make it only available to those 16-18+ (accountability and size issues) and there you go!

Remember when the old gen consoles had realistic pistols and they got banned (or so I hear)?

it does not really make the game realistic. its makes it more like an arcade game than a pc game or any type of game consoles. you won't be able to play this for hours because it will just give you muscle strains. and yes regarding the movement of your character, it will be really difficult if you use analogue stick.

I find the propensity for society at large to knee-jerk react their way through anything mildly offensive or provocative, more alarming. Perhaps children need a more sensible parental and societal context to base their attitudes towards violence and firearms alike. But what do I know? No-one knows I'm a peanut.

Back on topic, I don't really see the utility of this in serious gaming setting, until we have omnidirectional treadmills coupled with a solid piece of VR equipment , I'll personally maintain my reluctance to buy into any of these gimmicky solutions, and it appears that the consensus on here seems to feel the same as I do ;)

Yeah, I'll be on the “why” list thanks.

I don't get what the big deal is with this sort of thing, heck practically all my friends play COD and I've yet to see any of them shoot someone IRL lol.

I whole-heartedly agree on all fronts. Mildly surprised, and thankful it was CNN that carried the *ahem* “story” not the usual crowd of morons

All fronts except the being a peanut
