Four guys in a one man tent for five days? The smell must be gettin, lets say, a bit peculiar.

Pre-ordered this. Looks good :).

Mine arrived today from Amazon. I'm a bit bemused by this because it says on the order that it will be released tomorrow.
Oh well, I'm not complaining. :-)

No midnight releases in Banbury.

A sad time for humans when you spend a week in a tent, on a pavement waiting for a lacklustre games console. Even if the console was actually worth having, queuing for days in a tent is still a futile exercise (oh, snap!)

I have to agree. It makes me sad that anyone will line up to wait for either a game or a console of any sort. Will it kill you to pick it up at 8am?

Nothing wrong with that IMO. It's fun to get a new console, especially if its from Nintendo.

Nothing new. I remember exactly the same thing happening at the launch of Win 95. Then, as now, I remember thinking WTF?! You have to be some sort of religious zealot to want to be 1st in line. Personally I'd prefer to be in the pub/in bed/watching tv and get it shipped mail order.

In the internet era where one can have things reserved or delivered I worry about people who's best use of their time is to queue up for no apparent reason..

Also it's buggery cold out there.

Bravery or stupidity. Fine line..

The four students are members of a development company called Vertalex Studios and the queuing has brought a good bit of publicity for them.
They haven't done it solely for the console, they are getting good publicity for their studio.

I think it borders on stupidity, but having a secondary benefit makes the incentive less enough crazy for me not to think of them as mad.

Amazon do this a lot, I often receive Pre-Ordered items earlier than release date.
Amazon like to get Pre-Orders out the warehouse ASAP regardless of whether you opted for free or pay for shipping. I've never paid for shipping on pre-order items and still get them early.
