I have a lenovo netbook and its good but not amazing. Build quality on it is only average however its still a great device overall. It was pretty cheap though so its not a great indication of the bulk of their product sales.

A lot of the other Lenovo laptops i have seen and used have given off a rock solid impression of build quality.

One of the frustrating things i have experienced is if you have a problem with your device, it has to go back to China :(

If they expect to penetrate markets they need a better support network IMO.

Really? None of the (very rare) issues we've had with various Thinkpad's here have had to go back there!

It was a battery issue for me, when i got it back it looked like all they had done was replace the battery. I wouldnt have thought that would have to go back to China, but it did!

I got mine through CCL, perhaps it was something to do with that?

They have had my IdeaPad u260 now for over a month. They have failed to update me on what is happening and I have had to chased them for information and updates.

They need to improve their customer service, and reduce the repair turnaround.

Had a Lenovo s10e which is now my 10 year old. Rock solid, wasn't expensive by any means.

Wife has an Ideapad, I forget the number, but it could be a u260 and it's great too, not had any problems with it.

They used to manufacture for IBM, then IBM sold the business to them and transferred all their designers and R&D to Lenovo, they continue to produce ThinkPads to the same ideas as IBM did. I believe they are still bomb proof business systems.

I'd imagine that is because 1. They make all the Thinkpads for IBM, inheritly gaining IBMs business reputation. 2. Because their desktops seem to be in many large businesses, which I assume is down to pricing.

Lenovo systems are good but not very advanced. I mean my brother owns one of their lower-end ideapads and has facial recognition, which was first seen I believe in 2007 by dell alienware.

That doesn't mean they aren't advanced, you are comparing a software feature that could be on any laptop or netbook now, on a bottom end Lenovo and a top end Dell of a few years apart. That just seems logical to me, not a reflection on how advanced a Lenovo is.
