We may not like being European, but technically we are :)

Awww gutted, really wanted 3rd prize as well. I guess we can't have everything!
Posted by jimborae - Mon 19 Nov 2012 16:09
U.S. & Canada only???? Might get a couple of entries then but very descriminatory by the prize supplier for a predominantly UK & European forum.

Grumble, grumble……………

Perhaps this is a push to have a better presence over there?

They could call it HeX US?

But seriously I quite enjoy that Hexus is British focused, that one of the main attractions.

I think I remember reading a few complains from NA readers about competitions being UK-only. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. ;)

Rosewill isn't a brand we see here much and it might have something to do with them only wanting to do US-based competitions or something?

Anyway, an occasional non-UK competition doesn't bother me.

Suggestion Re: compos I'm not elligible to enter - It doesn't apply to me for this competition, but sometimes the option to sign up to the company's mailing list without entering the compo would be nice. Unless they really don't want to deal with folks from outside the target area, I don't think they'd mind. I understand if maybe not enough people would make use of it to bother with this option though.

Sounds like a great idea.

Guys - I've a solution - we will do another forum only competition this week ….. Rosewill wanted a US only competition and our US readers should be allowed to win (we do UK only ones often enough so don't moan!)

Thanks Hexus!

Seems a sensible approach DR. Have to say I wasn't aware that some of the competitions are UK only and I have 2 conflicting views on this:

1. Seems fair, we're a predominantly UK/European centric board so why shouldn't the competions be geared towards the bulks of the readership, Christ I've been a long term member on a few U.S. boards and members outside of the U.S. tend to get short shrift. So U.S. competitions for U.S. members/readers, UK/European for those based this side of the pond.

2. (Oposite view) Hexus is supposed to be an all inclusive, non discriminatory place therefore all competitions open to all where ever they may be based (and I get this may be wholely unworkable due to cost & logistics.

Eitherway as others have said seems like management are stuck between a rock & hard place but congrats to taking views onboard. :)

I'm getting tired of seeing posts complaining about competitions being UK only, thanks for giving some of the non-UK members a chance to win something, I of course can't enter but would like to wish all who do good luck.

Almost English speaking North Americans, then :P (joking)

As for the entry limitations, I've thought as much as soon as I saw the name ‘Rosewill’. It is a company that I only know of from review sites over the pond, and maybe Newegg. Wouldn't mind having it here on the old continent as well, though. They make some interesting server racks and backplanes I'm interested in.

1. The site is both the main HEXUS site and the forums - both get significant traffic.
2. We aren't stopping people, it's down to the commercial partner we are working with.

Seeing this competition invitation is only available in English, they better start speaking English as well, if they want to enter it! Alternatively, HeXus editors could learn French… neah, I didn't think so! :D :P
