yea, me too. I have bad problems but its all because of my computer. lol. Its because I stay up too late on it. And I shouldnt but I agree with you, getting to sleep is boring. I wish I never had to sleep, its a 1/3 of ur life wasted.

I find that reading helps…, thing is if u listen to music it will keep u awake unless u r completely exhausted. But if ur trying to get to sleep and ur not tired…I dunno. I think best way is to get urself out of bed really early say maybe only having 4-5 hours sleep. Then the following night, force urself to bed at say…11pm…

Jus try it.
Ive done it before and it feels wonderful waking up early and having a good nights sleep.

I'm constantly tired, yet I can never sleep when I need to (e.g. during the night, before a long day at uni).

A few people made a link between my lack of sleep and watching the tv/using the pc. During the week, I've cut down alot on watching television/films, and I only spend an hour or two on the PC, browsing forums, and reading my emails.

I slowly restarted my exercise routines again, just after christmas. I couldn't exercise for the last year or so up until recently, so someone else made a reference to how my lack of exercise may have responsible for my lack of sleep. However, my poor sleeping patterns have stretched back to since I was in school (7 years or so).

None of the above have helped me sleep any better, neither has horlicks, milo, ovaltine, margerine, or bactine. It gets frustrating when you skip a night of sleeping just because you don't want to suffer the disappointment of not being able to sleep. So to all the people who cannae sleep - I know how you feel :>

Well i have been having a mad night. Got a job interview at 9am and the adrenaline has been running round my body keeping me up. Problem is I'll probably let out so many yawns in the interview!!

I like sleep, but hate it when I don't get any, or I get ‘on/off’ nights.

unno i sometimes have that problem… a couple of pepole have said to me that because u have been thinkink while using ur computer ur mind will carry on thinking for a couple of hours after that..
so say if u go to bed at 1 normally.. and u go straight from ur puter to ur bed…. instead of doing that
leave ur coputer at 11 and go and d sumthing else.. read a book. have a bth.. etc… see if that makes a difference it worked for me cause im really bad i will stay up all night and think bout totally random things… but im slowly getting a sleeping pattern back
:)

how can sleep be boring? u get to think about the day and what u're gunna do tomorrow, you get to dream about things u'd like to do but cant and just generally get away from the world.

The only time i find it hard to sleep is when i've got sumit on my mind, like now, things going round and round in my head and no way to stop them without killing someone…. *ahem*

in the end i just drift off thinking about all the brutal ways i could torture said person :D
Posted by Allen - Thu 12 Feb 2004 09:33
You must have very violent dreams then! :P Is this said person who we were talking about last night? ;)

I have difficulty sleeping sometimes, so I just lie in bed watching a video or something till I fall asleep (my TV turns itself off once video's finish, so better than watching a DVD). It's normally Red Dwarf and as I've seen them all before, I don't havce to concentrate to find it funny. :D

yah-har. Sleep is good, although i seem to be getting less and less of it. I guess that's what happens when you get older.

well i like sleeping.. but its seems to that people on hexus that have more than 500 posts are either an admin/moderator or they live on the hexus that is to say that all day long the click refresh or just surf the forum looking for something to respond to until the early morning.

just something my…research has “unearthed”.

(admins/moderators are exsept from my research cos its their job to stay on hexus to moderate)

Umm, right… Only once have I been up late (i.e. all night) and it certainly wasn't due to Hexus. I did however post on here at something silly like 4am though…

And I may have IE running most of the day in the background whilst at work, but so what? I have a lot to say! :P

“how can sleep be boring?”

Its the trying to get to sleep part that is boring, I think. Well it is for me anyway! I'm not sure what goes on, but every few years I cannot get to sleep sunday nights O_o. I just end up lying there counting down how many hours sleep I have left.

I devised a means to generate a stable room temperature fusion reaction using nothing but a packet of dorito's and a pocket calculator, using this i defeated the incomming alien fleet, by myself i might add, got the girl, but then lost it all at vegas!

to help sleep, try having a cup of hot choclate before bed, then try reading A BOOK for a while - reading a screen doesnt do the same thing because your eyes have to work harder, and there is more interaction involved. then when you finally feel like putting the book down, try and clear your mind and think of nothing.. its strange to do, and quite hard to learn if you dont know how, but once you master it you can fall asleep real quick (i can do it, but only when sobre, so after a night out i rarely get any sleep.. funny innit)

It's the exact opposite, for me… After drinking profuse amounts of alcohol, I usually cabbage out on the couch, only to be woken by a cat walking on my crotch. It wasn't even a bloody small cat, either!

All I can think of is the scene with the dog in Ali G's film In da House… UGH! :( ;)

Ah you sound like the relaxation therapist I had.

Haven't slept properly since I was about 16. If I'm lucky I'll get around 5 hours a night. Sometimes I can fall asleep only to find myself wide awake at 3 or 4 in the morning, too tired to get up, but unable to get back to sleep.

Spent a good two years trying to resolve it - Had to cut caffiene completely out of my diet for 9 months (did nothing, I'm convinced I'm immune to caffine as I never get a caffine “buzz”). Warm bath before bedtime, reading, warm milk/horlicks/ovaltine, brisk walk before bedtime, No tv, no alcohol, plenty of excercise - all tried, all failed.

Relaxation therapy was interesting - mainly because it made things worse! getting all relaxed and sleepy at 2 o'clock only to have the session end at 3 and be jolted out of your relaxed state does very little for you!

Eventually I was prescribed sleeping tablets - Man, did I sleep then! Had 12 solid hours on the first night, woke up feeling great. Went downstairs for a morning coffee, sat in front of the TV, reached down for coffee and it was stone cold. Looked at the clock and realised I'd dropped off and had slept for a further 4 hours! :D

Unfortunately, as soon as the tablets stopped, my old sleeping patterns returned.

I'm now resigned to the fact that I'll just never sleep properly.

Stress is the only thing which stops me from sleeping, and im not often stressed…im too laid back….(yes TOOOO laid bk…some would call it lazy u know?)….i enjoy my sleep but i sometimes think it gives you too much time to think about stuff…and thinking is bad…very bad… has any1 ever had a dream of the game they were playing just b4 they went to bed, that ALWAYS happens….it used to happen especially when i used to play cs lol….alot!

Anyone else up at 3:55am?

*waves* :)

Another sleepless night for me. Was hoping that the start of the new uni semester would tire me at least a little, but it hasn't, unfortunately. So I'm reading a bunch of self-circumcision articles whilst listening to Neurosis.
