This looked awesome - until I realised that you can't actually specify folders to backup other than the default folders.
Actually it probably is awesome - and for most users this is exactly what they need. For others I wonder if it's sensitive to NTFS junctions etc because with some careful manipulation it could be re-purposed..
It isn't, from blog, a full backup solution but it would provide a very easy way for someone to backup photos to a stick/external drive without much knowledge.

Irony, much?
So this is basically Time Machine then, though without the any folder business. It sounds like something Windows sorely needs, 99% of people don't have files outside My Documents anyway. Those who worry about backing up files from other locations will probably know what to do anyway or will have dedicated RAID setups, etc.

I don't get it…
Wouldn't it be useful to specify folders instead of only being allowed to use predefined ones?

Erm its in advanced settings isn't it? (is in at least one build I've played with).
Also you can just simply add the location to favourites, or in to a library that is already backed up.

I couldn't find that option. I did however add my folder as a library but it wouldn't back it up (I did try, honest!). Maybe it isn't designed for me - I'd be quite happy just using it as a version tracking tool.

@cameronlite don't worry, it took me a while too.

Nobody uses windows backup when they can use nicer/friendlier/more techie apps. Glad they aren't throwing out the idea of having something built-in.
