Are you joking? What do you mean, it ‘won’t work on Linux'? If you're on your computer, you access it via the website! And if you're not, you'll be able to use it via SMS or the IM client of your choice.
My understanding was that the SMS, and possibly the IM, accesses were pushed updates only - in the manner of a Twitter client. Not the full access which, as you point out, will need a web browser (or other client?). I'm assuming, of course, that this new app won't be specific to a particular small set of browsers - as that would be moronically stupid.

You sound like you have no idea how this actually works, …
Guilty as charged - then again since I have no need nor desire for Facebook there's not really that much incentive for me to waste time trying to find out details at the moment. I'll probably have a scout around once the service is established - for academic interest.

…but just wanted an excuse to complain about Facebook favouring the iPhone over Android.
Actually no - I'm totally unconcerned what Facebook support, or don't … remember I said that I don't use it. :p
No, what I was picking up on was that "
There is integration with SMS, as well as a special iPhone app launched today“ - notice no mention of anything for Android (nor Blackberry or Symbian if we're talking about smartphones). Why single iPhone owners out for special treatment?
If it is ”
to be the default written messaging product for both PCs and mobile devices" then why concentrate on only one OS? Of course if they mean that the iOS app is only the first to launch, and the others are imminent then that's fine, and I'll go back to sleep … ;)
