Why does it appear to have an additional PCI slot above the PSU?

I can think of a couple of uses for that, but they are pretty unusual, what is it intended for?

I can only assume it's for things that don't require a PCI slot. Like extra usb ports or a COM port (both attach to the motherboard but dont take up a PCI slot).

At a guess…

I think it might be for putting extra expansion slots that come with motherboards like extra USB ports.

I have fan controllers etc that need a PCI slot in the case to be fitted to but don't need an actual PCI slot on the motherboard.

Looks good. It has a major plus point in that it doesn't use one of those god awful Soundgraph LCD's.

for a similar but cheaper version in black: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Silverstone-Grandia-GD04B-Black-HTPC-Desktop-Micro-ATX-w-o-PSU

It's even got the confusing PCI slot above the PSU!
