Buys iPad. Moans about other idiot charges. Doesn't make sense.

Where exactly has Vodafone notified us of these charges? Im a pay monthly user and have had no contact whatsoever from Vodafone telling me of these charges.

I use a sure signal so I'm using my own internet anyway. If they think they're going to charge me more for using their internet over my internet they can swivel

If they make a change to your tariff surely that means the contract can be canceled. I seem to remember this happening with o2

If im reading this right…. then i dont see whats wrong? Its just like every other provider, e.g. Virgin mobile internet if you exceed the 1gb allowance then you are charged the going rate per MB iirc. Vodafone are just trying to stop people taking the piss and going over their “fair usage” which is 500MB.

Its the same as calls aswell/texts too, if you go over the 3k unlimited text then you get charged per text. Or am i totally wrong? If so please correct me :D.

I have no idea how much I use in terms of mobile data a month on my phone, now with Android I have a 3G monitor running which tells me, for my own purposes I'd like to know.

I don't see how people can say in their promo material ‘unlimited Internet’ and then use an asterisk saying *only up to 2GB. Thats not unlimited. I know there was a big thing about this a while ago, can't remember the outcome. How is unlimited defined? Then it isn't unlimited. They should just come out and say right you have 1GB a month. If people ask and say how much is that then they should be flexible in the first few months to allow people to find out how much data they use.

Anyway I digress. 500MB for general surfing and emails seems about the norm and reasonable. So far this month I have used 76.32MB data.

I wanna know if I can cancel my contract. I havent went over 500MB yet but thats cause of uni works and stuff. Once I finish next week ill use my phone much much more and this £5 for extra credit isnt what I signed up for

I normally use between about 750MB and 1.5GB/month. That's with no Wifi use as my home Wifi is slower than my phone internet :rolleyes:
I don't watch Youtube and I don't listen to internet radio or anything particularly major, I just do a fair bit of internet browsing each day and I haven't got round to setting up push email yet so it's checking two sets of emails every 5 minutes.
Clearly, Vodafone may not be the mobile phone provider for me!

In theory, if one party changes the terms of the contract , the other party has the right not too agree to the new terms, therefore the supplier of the contract either has to keep the original contract in place or terminate the contract (if possible)

But because people usually sign any small print nowadays, mobile phone operators have added small print stating they have the right to change the terms of the contract at there will. I believe though by law (because of ofcom) phone operators have to give 30 days written notice of changes to terms of contracts.

1. Vodaphone can't change existing contracts without 30 days written notice.
2. Always read the small print - if you dont like it, don't sign it.
3. 500Mb is not enough for mobile internet.
Funny how the norm was 1gb per month and now its dropped down by half when people are now likely to require more. - Like BT with there 100gb capping, mobile phone operators are crippling the UK with stupid fair usage policies. Rest of the world is speeding on ahead, and the UK operators are too busy trying to make more pennys and screwing over the consumer.

Dont take this comment the wrong way or anything your kinda a good example of why they have changed their terms. The fair usage policy always used to be 500MB but they just didnt charge you if you went over this, which is better than the fair usage of 3k text and getting charged for every other one.

Your using more than what you effectively pay for so i believe voadfone do have a right to change this agreement, if your going over 500MB then you are abusing thw fair usage policy so cant complain much tbh. However I still do believe that 500MB should really be 1gb/1.5gb, my virgin mobile has gone to 2GB for 2 months for some reason for free :D.

Honestly you lot should stop complaining. If you want to be ripped off pay a visit to Australia. I get 150MB of data included on my mobile plan and if I go over that I get charged $2 per MB. To pay 5 pounds for 500MB would be wonderful!!

But taking steps backwards and not forward is the main problem here, not the value or cost. In a year when mobile interneting will boom with smart phones and people start using apps like iplayer and youtube on their mobiles , data packages should be bigger.

I see what you're saying. But this then comes back to the point that it's ridiculous to market a tariff as having unlimited internet when the cap is 500MB - not even enough for what could be regarded as light use (i.e. no use of YouTube etc).
You have 2GB allowance with Virgin? I may look into their tariffs again when my O2 contract ends in the next month or two.

I sympathise with those down under and hope things improve soon, trouble is you're such a long way from the big internet spider, it just costs more to get there ;-)

500gb per month is only 16mb (ish) per day. If you use your phone for even web browsing, this is tiny about. About 10 detailed web pages.

3 recently did the same thing. Very anoying i never got bugged for using too much on O2 now im capped at 500MB. Just wish O2 could have been more competitive with their contract prices

Can vodafone do this without sending me a letter telling me? It effectively changes my contract. I should be allowed to cancel no?
