For those of you who buy solely online - and don't have a chance to see a product ‘in the flesh’ - you are relying on the wisdom from HEXUS.labs and the visuals from HEXUS.tv

On that basis, I'd be interested in any feedback on areas within/around a product (like a chassis) that you want us to spend more time on

While the main point of HEXUS.tv is to be entertaining, we also want to help you guys make great buying decisions…

…so please let us know how we can help

the cosmos does look like a neat case but i have heard that it has poor cooling especialy around the hdd area. the gpu air duck seems to be difficult to fit when you have a huge gtfx card like the 8800gtx or ultra.

with the anouncement of the new 9800gx2 which looks twice has big as an ultra, will it fit inside this case?

actually, now I've changed the case fans around the cooling in the HDD area is alright. Quite good infact. Without the fan the temps were 35 idle on the hdd drives but now I moved the fan above the hdd cages its dropped to 20 idle. plus it makes a lot less noise than my antec 900 :)

I have (taken from my system <<<————-)

A Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3GHz
4GiB of Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 DDR2 (Quite hot since I'm running them over stock speeds/voltage)
3 HDD's comprising of 2 x 250GB Samsung SP2504C and 1 x 500GB Samsung HD501LJ
Not to forget the graphics card which is a BFG GeForce 8800GTS 512MiB GDDR3. DVD drive in there too but that hardly generates heat.

My CPU's temps are..
C1: 26C
C2: 22C
C3: 33C
C4: 33C
CPU: 24C (Based on Everest, which is showing the same temps are CoreTemp so I dont really need to check CoreTemp)

GPU Temps are
Ambient: 37C
GPU: 48C

My Hard Drives are
24C 23C and 25C atm

and room temperature is a quite warm 23C

Oh yea mobo temp is 29C

I've recently aquired one of those cases (I won a custom painted one :D) and so far it's been cooler and marginally quieter than my old Aurora 3D.

lucky you! :D

sounds like a decent case. all those saying that the temps of this case is bad must be incorrect or dont have there fans set up properly

I think the main problem is that there's no fans blowing over the HDD bays directly. If you have all six bays filled the heat could build up quite fast.

you can move the bottom intake fan to be above the hdd's :)

or you can remove the bottom hdd cage and put a fan in that slot if your only using 3 hdd's

Way too heavy really.

I think in the future we'll see smaller form factors becomming increasingly popular vs. full towers.
Posted by moogle - Wed 09 Jan 2008 19:56
possibly, but then there'd be less space and probably less airflow in those smaller cases. i like my full towers. plus it's not much more heavier than an antec 900. Sure it's not a lan case but who moves their pc case around very often.

just placed an order for 2, was building my mate a simular pc to the one im building until he saw the case, now im building twins :D
