Scan have lowered the prices for all there 1156 cpu's to be in-line with ebuyer's pricing.

I hope these prices come down in a month or so.

Not sure they are all that attractive at those prices really. £10- £20 premium on the CPUs and motherboards that are a bit pricey for a so called mainstream line make it a harder choice than it should be.

I won't buy one until there is a MB out there that has native support for USB 3.0 and SATA 6G… I would imagine that give it a month, 2 tops and there will be boards out there that support these new techs.

I 100% agree with you, as I bet many-a mainstream enthusiasts do as well. That's EXACTLY what I was thinking when I read the reviews this morning. I thought to myself, “Self, do I want a 920 or 860 now that all is known?” and self said “Why the hell would you make the investment before SATA III and Superspeed USB, and why didn't at least one P55 launch with these making the decision easier?”

I gave myself a cookie, and we began to wait for such a board, hoping the Microcenter deals here in good ol' U.s. of A. last until such a decent board exists.

Sata 6G is stumbling at the blocks at the moment, it was ready to roll unfortunately there where some issues with IDE/Floppy compatibility and for some baffling reason they dropped the 6G support…. Personally I would have ditched IDE/Floppy support (at least on one high end / low legacy support board). I haven't had a floppy in my pc in about 3 years (or used one in about 5) and I replaced my ide dvd-rw with a sata one last year when my ide one packed up, and it was actually 13p cheaper. So neither is really needed anymore.

I thought that USB 3.0 was due to hit boards in Q4 this year, but if its Q1 next year or even Q2 I will wait…

After all my Core Duo 6600 is still burbling along quite happily and whilst I do fancy a faster PC I don't actually need one just yet. I would rather wait and not waste ~£100 on a MB that won't support these techs. (Never mind the fact that when a board does come out supporting both techs I will more than likely be able to get a faster/cheaper cpu, faster/more memory and have a better system for the cash.

The cost of the Core i5 750 is quite competitive, I think AMD may have to think about lowering the price of their Phenom II X4s.
