What we do like, however, is the rumoured development of titles such as Gran Turismo, Little Big Planet and Metal Gear Solid, exclusively for the PSP Go.

Ahh good ole Sony. I remember Sony tempting and promising people with GT for the PSP when it first was about to drop, and all it's ever been is vapour. Lets see if it actually finally makes it to a Sony hand held. Which isn't even the original PSP.

I'm pretty sure Little Big Planet was promised for the regular PSP too..

s/GT/GT5/g
s/PSP/PS3/g

And the sentence still makes perfect sense. :angst:

My biggest complaint is the lack of dual thumb controls. Why stick the pause, selct buttons theirs? Make the controls compatible to the PS2/3 controller and i bet coppying games accross would be much easier. And of course some decent FPS on the PSP!

Is it just me or does the old PSP have more visual appeal..

This just looks like a tanned Gizmondo..

The original PSP looks like a proper man's handheld.. has more character and looks downright sexy at times..

This one is just… meh…

*I bet the swivel or slide bit will malfunction and fall off before anyone can shout Kaz Hirai*

Wow..thats..ugly.

Wasn't one of the best things about the original/slim PSP how good it looked? Slick, sexy (as you can get with a handheld console) and high tech..

As Sawyen hints at, that one looks like a Malformed Gizmondo..there is suddenly even LESS reason to go and get a PSP than there was before (lets face it, it wasn't really what you could call a success in the first place).

If Nintendo did not already have a monopoly on the portable videogame/machine market then they certainly will when this is released..

Certainly not the prettiest thing Sony has ever designed… Also the buttons being at the extreme bottom corners look to be a bit awkward.

I'm not sure why Sony feel a new piece of hardware is going to inject life into the brand, the problem was never the hardware it was the lack of software.

They pretty much moved across design elements from Sony's own “Mylo” hand held net & media gadget thingie.

I think HSK has it.

I've heard of a lot of people that only really use their PSP as a media player, even though they initially bought it for games. The integration with the PS3 would hint at this as well.

Plus…

Why do you even need a GO with it?

Its practically trivial to know the PSP was made portable to begin with.. its not like it has its roots locked down on home console bits..

If they want to give it a GO suffix.. at least maybe call it Playstation Media GO or something..

Nobody else disappointed with the smaller screen size? Granted, if the resolution remains the same, it'll look sharper but if anything, I wish they'd make it a bit larger or keep it the same size.

Sony's going for digital distribution with this new model, so I assume they'll have a Steam-like service set up for it. Which means you don't have to carry a bag of UMDs with you, as you'll be able to download what you need at any time. 16GB of flash memory will also be useful for this. I think the “GO” moniker actually makes sense in this respect.

So I guess its more ‘GO’ than a PSP then..

as in being pun towards more portable..

Meet the truly portable playstation portable

I still think giving a GO is rather pants.. its like adding a GO to GeforceM, (GeforceM 260GTX GO)

At least maybe call it PSP(squared), at least it vaguely means that the portable part has been improved and hence squared..

or even better PSP(playstation button square)

Then make the whole thing look a little more sophisticated..
