Any ideas who's the OEM for this one?

Our engineering partner for these models is CWT, although, as with other Corsair PSUs, they're based on a unique, customised design. We modified the PCB layouts and tweaked the components to minimise ripple/noise and generally improve performance, efficiency and so on. So they are very much Corsair PSUs.

This is excellent news. Although I don't really need 750W, getting anything less than that will feel like a downgrade compared to my current Silverstone. Depending on how good the reviews of the new Corsair are, I might well be getting a Corsair chassis, PSU and memory in my next build…

The other could do with being an HX 850W ideally. There's a hole in Corsair's product line around there. An 850W modular PSU with the same efficiency and low noise as the 520/620 would sell well I reckon. The HX1000 is too expensive and way too loud!:surprised:

expenisve yes, but then it is a 1kw, loud, well thats subjective, i have a mate whos ears are godly lol and he does think so, but then reviews dont. then again he thinks the 850w be quiet he sold me was loud, but it really isnt, i dunno how he heard it over his 2 4870x2s. i couldnt hear it over my one, and i was passively cooling my CPU with a 120.3 rad, well i had fans but i turned them off becuase i found my system ran without fan needing to run lol.

anyways 7 years waranty WOW!

At idle neither are bad. At load the BeQuiet was unpleasant but not unusually loud (c. 30dBA @ 1m I would guess). The corsair though, while being around 23-24dB or so at idle, can't have been far from 50dB at load. A 140mm fan at 2200rpm, you work it out :P
In any case, let's not spam the news article with noise evaluation.

Edit: I can't believe you didn't know it was me. I'm even using the same username!
