darn it.

why do all the price drops happen aften i do an upgrade?

last time it happened was when i bought a audigy2 ZS and the very same day the X-FI came out. at least I have HEXUS now to forwarn me of any new tech releases. :hexlub: at least i get value for money from my purchases though, 7 years since my previous upgrade to this one (£150 per year)

My ebuyer says £196.15 inc vat, which isn't even £165 ex vat (it's £170). Mistaken pricing rapidly corrected perhaps? Wonder if anyone managed to buy it at that price…

OK, my ebuyer *still* says £196, but Scan now says £167. I is confuzzed…

(p.s. Scan have the 920 @ £151 - so a bit of a price drop, I think…?)

AMD UK boss, Andrew Buxton, has confirmed the price cut:

What you're seeing is eBuyer's system messing around with pricing. The chip will be around £165 at pretty much every etailer in the next few days, I bet.

I do hope so. Not that I can afford one, mind you, but it's nice to see that good a processor coming into the mainstream budget :) Unfortunately, it sounds like this might simply mean that 920 and 810 are simply end-of-lined, rather than leading to a full reshuffle down the line: if the X3 710 dropped to sub £90 it'd make my deliberations over my next build *much* easier ;)

I've updated the article to highlight that Scan has just reduced the price of this chip to £167.89.

X4 920 is now £151, as well.

Thanks Tarinder - as responsive as ever :)

Scan seem to have done a wholesale price slash on AMD processors - the Athlon 7750 BE is down to £48… go Scan :)
