Having worked in/around the semi-conductor industry for a long time, it is unusual for companies to be this happy about brand new silicon

Although we must all be aware that there is a huge amount of spin in the world - their faith does seem well placed in this instance…

…and the prospect of significantly faster systems for gamers/video editors in 2008 does fill me heart with joy!

What, you don't think Intel was doing the happy-dance over Conroe at the start of 2006? If Anandtech gets samples to benchmark more than 7 months before release then we'll know it's something really special. :)

I have also seen the ‘very unhappiest of dances’ with the delays around the R520
In general, I think it is MUCH harder to nail working silicon (ready for public demonstration), than it is to produce something that ‘looks about right’ as an A0/1 spin… but which then needs significant re-working/regression-testing/micro-coding to reach the high street
