£400 is about where I am wanting to go for a GPU, as long as it'll hit whatever my new monitor does, 2650x1440@144hz, once the damned things come into stock, and we know what else AMD are planning…
If we haven't all died from a bad vaccine by then…

And I was hoping to spend no more than £300 on a graphics card for 2560x1440@144hz, guess that's still not possible!

Good luck with that!! Also £400 for a 60 series card.

It's cool, AMD will be able to offer you a card with similar performance for a similar price, also not available to buy anywhere until February next year.

Apparently people are thinking this generation is great as there is no price increase over the last!! Lets forget about Turing pushing prices up,and AMD deciding to rebadge the RX680/RX690. Just have a few cards as FE/reference at RRP,and hide the real street price!

I almost bought, but I held back. 1080 Ti is still a superb card, and at £270 I got a bargain. I chose to spend my money in a luxury case and premium cooling setup instead:

Which in the end is far more interesting than another faster CPU or GPU!! Also should last you a few rebuilds too.

True, parts that should last me a good while. Hard to imagine how you can optimise space anymore to be honest, unless you go fully vertical like the P-ATX I mentioned previously.

Some of the cases which are more compact use a form of FlexATX PSUs which are longer.

It's a shame but it's a free market I guess. People are willing to buy it at that price so I'll just have to keep waiting if I don't want to join them.

I just thought with the consoles “promoting” and “pushing” to 4k120 now, the PC GPU department would have 1440p 144hz at a more affordable price.

Its not really that free as Nvidia and AMD are setting the price together. Best not to step on each other's toes too much - its more profitable that way. Sadly a lot of people “can't” miss out,so they are at their mercy so tech companies have them by the privates, and they know that.

1080 Ti at £270 is a really good price!

The classic Ncase M1 is beautiful.

I'm going to downsize to ITX at some point next year probably once a nice affordable vertical cuboid case comes out or I might just suck it up and grab a NZXT H1.

A few potential choices coming out…

You just have to choose your games and settings *really* carefully :D

Or the flip-side, there will always be games you can't hit a steady 144Hz with the settings turned up with any card. I don't find myself staring at the screen thinking “this sucks” despite my Vega 56 no longer appearing in any of the benchmark lists which is always a bad sign that replacement is nearing. When I do, I shall buy something twice as fast.

It's a nice case too but I'm after the NZXT H1 style of a small footprint and vertical instead.

Yeah I was fine with 60fps before and generally still am but after getting a 144Hz monitor and playing an older game (Tales of Vesperia) on 144fps, I realised how much smoother it is.

Also now that I have got VR and I stream, I find having the extra performance would be a lot nicer. I play Beat Saber and most of the time it runs at 90fps fine but sometimes I get blips and that messes up my combo and that can also be the difference between failing or passing a stage sometimes!
