It would be nice if there was an actual number sold to associate that against the waiting queue.

If Scan had 1000 of each then that makes it look like it really was a demand craze, but if it was like 100 each then that inches towards being a problem…

people should relax, its normal for the demand to exceed supply in the first weeks of launch, it took me around a month to be able to get my 3700X when it was launched last year, first month is always like that, the next month it would better and so on.

Nvidia's RTX 3000 series is a different story, they rushed their release ahead of AMD 6000 series and didnt give themselves nor their partners enough time to stock up, so they have little to no stock and it will take several months to ramp up the demand.

The 30 series made me 50 quid. When it came out I was constantly saying it made absolutely no sense and nvidia would never do this unless they were forced to. A mate was saying nvidia were just trying to make up for screwing consumers on the 20 launch/pricing. I said I bet a tenner the 6000 series are same as or better than the 30 series. Smart arse said “you can make it 50 quid for all I care it's stupid conspiracy bullpoop to think a company would randomly do something like this, these things are..” and then they waffled on for a while and got really smug.

Who gets smug over something like that. And the worst thing is, I'm gonna get smug in return. And that annoys me more than them being smug, I'm being brought down to their level.

S'all nvidia's fault.

What I don't get is why couldn't retailers take pre-orders ahead of the launch date to help smooth over the peak demand? Pricing was announced at the launch event over a month ago but myself I could have told you I was planning to buy Zen3 at the start of the year why then force everyone into ‘online retail hell’ competing with bots and webshops used to running at 1/10th the load normally… makes no sense.

Anyhow its now all about restock volumes they need to be shipping out hundreds per week per sku per retailer per region.

Because there's no fanfare, no bang, with a pre-order system.

Because they don't know how much they're going to get, and by taking pre-orders you're basically entering into a 1 sided contract. There's no upside to taking pre-orders for a retailer; demand is demand. You let it be released, and you let people make orders, and if you don't have it in, well it's the manufacturer's fault, nobody else's. By taking pre-orders it's a statement saying “yeah come buy from us when it comes out we'll definitely have it in!”. There is literally no upside to taking pre-orders in hardware.

Ah, but you'll be a 50 quid richer smug. That type of smug is always a better type of smug.

Apple manage it. Microsoft managed it. Sony managed it.

So why can't Nvidia and AMD manage it? It'll give them much better predictions on the quantities they need to produce.

I have a large amount of popcorn ready for the PS5 and Xbox launches as I'm hearing from a retail source they are NOT going to have enough stock…

PS Apple taken a hit this week because they can't supply enough iphone 12's to people and they have zero spares if you drop your shiny fruity phone

Mate in America just said - Xbox Series X on sale from today. 4 mins till out of stock. 4 minutes. Ebay already got them on sale at 3 or 4 times retail price

But at least they had pre-orders.

As for the scalpers going mad, I truly hope they get burned.

But my point is…. nowhere near demand. PS5 will be exactly the same. So will be Radeon 6000 series. In fact I can see most tech launches being nowhere near fulfilling demand for a fair few months

The word on reddit seems to be that there's no stock expected in the UK until December. Frank Azor may need to eat his words.

Scan seem to promising some deliveries this week and the numbers of pre-orders outstanding seem to be smaller than the numbers waiting for 3070/80/90. Hoping to get a 5600X which has the smallest number of outstanding preorders.

Where are Scan promising that? Their Product Launch FAQ page still has TBC volumes against Week commencing 16th Nov, unless I'm missing something?

They say “From Monday 9th November we will have a schedule of when we are expecting AMD Ryzen 5000 deliveries for each of the models over the coming weeks” which implies to me that they are expecting some stock in November.

A lot of retailers seem to have the caveat on their Ryzen Zen 3 pages that stock is limited for these processors - I imagine this indicates they still think demand will outstrip supply handily.

I'm still hoping to get a hold of of 5600X this side of Christmas, now the Scan outstanding preorders for the 5600X at 231 doesn't seem that large especially considering that 232 of the 5950X are apparently being delivered to Scan this week. On the other hand, who knows how fast they'll sell out again when they go back on sale.

So looks like AMD dropped the ball on this one. AMD's assurances to Scan turned out not to be valid. Unless 132/week is AMD's “lot's of stock”.

Now you can get it for about 300 quid from AWD IT , but + motherboard set makes it about 450 the cheapest. Not sure about stock level but says available.
