Soooo, 3090 and 3080 yields were poor, but fortunately, we've managed to push them through as 3070's?

Possibly, but it could also be that both GA102 and GDDR6X have poor yields where as 3070 uses normal GDDR6.

Didn't think PC gaming was that much of a thing in Japan..

3070 and 3080/3090 don't use the same base die:

GA102 for 3080/3090
https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-ga102-300-gpu-for-geforce-rtx-3090-pictured

GA104 for 3070 (likely 3060 as well)
https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-ti-super-and-rtx-3070-rumored-to-feature-ga104-gpu

So there does not appear to be an appropriate salvaging scheme for GA102 into a 3070 stack (maybe a ti?) (Edit: yet!)

Ahhh, didn’t know that..

Wonder what the real world difference will be between the 6 and 6x..
Or if the actual performance between the 3070 and 3080 will be given the difference between the 3080 and 3090…

but does it deliver?

GDDR6 is around 16 Gbit/s whilst GDDR6X is supposed to be around 19-20 Gbit/s. So about 20-25% faster. But also seems to consume about 30% more power

Lenovo already leaked there was an RTX3070TI!

But we don't know what die it'll use yet :P

Last minute Rebrandeon based on how RDNA2 performs for sure!! :P

The RTX3070 also doesn't use the full GA104 die too!

The 3090 doesn't use the full 102 die does it? There is scope for more range diversity, if Nvidia ever decide to make enough of anything. I have doubts they will, then release the Super / Ti versions and charge more than the RRP of the ones they didn't make many of.

There is probably room for an RTX Titan with more VRAM!!

Yeah, that'll be the 48GB version no doubt. :p

Wait until TSMC have space, then see what Ampere can really do lol

Wont it be expensive for them to buy space, I mean currently AMD must be hogging everything, due to they need to produce Console CPU/GPU and more.

I think there's still more than enough capacity left over from Apple moving.

So a 3080Ti be faster than the stock 3090 then but without the big chunk of extra RAM?

Bit naff, ain't it.
Posted by [GSV]Trig - Tue 27 Oct 2020 16:08
Well, yeah, you'd expect a Ti or Super level card to be in the regions of 10/15% faster would you not, which again, makes the 3090 look pretty poor, even before you factor in the cost difference..

Probably nvidia prognoses sells using AI software, it just told to wait till the concurrent shows his product.
