Nvidia CEO says RTX 3080/90 “demand will outstrip all supply”
This will be the case until 2021, indicated Jensen Huang in a GTC 2020 Q&A session.

…followed by…(off mic)….
and that's the way, (uh-ha ah-ha), we like it….
So from now on, when you next wait ages for a bus and then two come along at once, just remember that it isn't that the first bus was late, it's that the bus company delayed it to ensure there was sufficient supply of buses for those who want to catch one.
"This will be the case until 2021 AMD release Big Navi" indicated Jensen Huang in a GTC 2020 Q&A session.
This does seem a lot of pr bluster in all honesty…. basically implying the card is ‘brilliant’ and incredibly popular when in fact they just haven't made enough and arguably rushed it out before AMD got theirs out first.

What facts point to the latter over the former? Until financials get released we've no way of knowing whether demand was higher than expected or supply was less than expected (or both).
I think they're having issues with Samsung yeilds and are trying to PR their way out of it.

If that's the case, they're in for a world of legal hurt by misleading investors:

I'm hearing it's all 3. They hyped it up, yields were and still are poor and they have cut such a hard deal it's going to stay that way, and supply issues have all conspired to give us this perfect storm
One of the tech youtubers, I think Moore's Law or AdoredTv, was saying last month supply was probably going to be low on purpose to push up the price above the RRP

They nearly all said that but said because of the cooler cost on the FE editions ($150) but since then it appears Samsung have snatched defeat from the jaws of yields
so that means buy when there is stock, but I think it is a marketing trick, I want to see what AMD has to offer.
Also a year away from upgrade, maybe I go when the DDR5 is a thing instead.
If you've not seen it yet, some interesting info on Scan's website now and queue positions are due out soon. watching the reddit threads with interest to get a feel for how many cards are actually coming in/out at scan.
The outstanding pre order count is MUCH smaller than I expected - but thats likely as Scan sensibly cut off pre orders fairly early on, unlike other more scammy retailers which are *still* taking people's money right now.

Very interesting to see the number of orders that a retailer like Scan expects it can fulfil over the coming weeks. Based on those numbers, and if you are into wild extrapolation, you could conclude indirectly that demand is high and supply seems to not be… which is what everyone has been saying anyway!
