If you're one of the six HEXUS.community members who have Sky HD

Seven………… ehem, I missed that poll, had it for nearly two years now.

There must be more than seven of us, surely

I'm just hopeful it has better picture quality than BBC HD, so I can watch the Olympics on Eurosport instead.

Another HD channel is always good, though I can't say I'm too excited about ‘Real Life HD’ or whatever it is that's being advertised as ‘Coming Soon’. Sounds like something the missus would get teary watching

Heh, I find myself amongst the privileged few with SkyHD.

Did have a quick flick over to Eurosport only to find the content in 4:3 :(

What makes you say that? I seem to recall you talking about the techie side of it before? :)

To me it's far from consistently best on Sky, let alone in the world.

When it was a trial, it had fantastic PQ. Since the trial ended… not so much. It's very hit and miss now, at least with my equipment. Some things are pretty impressive, others seem very poor. What's on now (bonekickers) has awful PQ. I'm not sure if the grain is as the director intended, but the picture noise certainly shouldn't be there. Many other shows leave much to be desired too.

The ITVHD picture trumps it quite dandily.

Seems their newer encoders make a noticeable difference.

Just need it on Sky now and for sky and the beeb to update their encoders!

Not anymore it doesn't, as stated since the trial ended quality took a nose a dive. Read somewhere that the Beeb stated they were using new compression software which they claim didn't affect the picture quality. Unfortunately all us punters seem to beg to differ. :(

I think much of what's carried on Sky is subject to different compression software now.

A few folk that have been moaning to Sky about it have been told there's improvements coming shortly. I'll believe it when I see it.

I got a letter today from SKY saying I can get Sky HD for 75 quid.

I am still gonna wait until the subscription fee drops a bit

Best news I've heard in a long while, this :)

Wonder how long it'll be before they add Eurosport 2 and Men & Motors :juggle:
