How long until we see Navi 20?
Posted by edmundhonda - Mon 30 Dec 2019 18:24
I'd expect a firmware cap to limit overclocking, same as on the RX5700. Should be remarkably power efficient, if that matters to anyone.

I guess any attempt to flash a 5700 bios would run into issues with the missing memory?

Nvidia were due to adjust prices anyway, but now they'll know exactly where to set their benchmark prices.

No surprise reductions or well received release for AMD, which is what is needed.

The biggest problem I foresee is AMD's lack of competitive pricing at launch for their products. Naturally AMD (specifically the RTG division) needs to post a profit, but these cards will sell poorly if they're priced above £220 GBP, given that many GTX 1660 Super (6GB) AiB Partner models are currently around £200-£220 GBP delivered.

Going by the game clocks it's 87% of a 5700, which beats a 1660 ti handily - £250 would be a steal

That's the price of a Vega 56, and close enough to the same performance. The problem with AMDs new cards is the old cards, and RX 580 for £125 is a pretty decent baseline.

And yet will still hog more power than the competing Nvidia cards, like every AMD card just now. Yes, Navi is great but it's a power hog.

First pictures of this RX 5600 XT Phantom Gaming D3 from ASRock have now appeared at VideoCardz.

Wow, that's got some length to it. Another factory overclock the nuts off it card to push the idea that AMD cards burn a lot of power? I mean, that sucker's nearly the size of my Vega 56.

How about a decent card that plays games at 1080 but is passive, that’s what I want rather than these hot loud expensive things

“Passive”? Oh, they thought you said “Massive” ;) :D

To be fair, turn off the factory overclock and I doubt that thing will ever have to spin its fans up in a decently ventilated case.
