Yes… one of the draws of the current Shield TV is the option of buying it with an internal HDD… really hope this is still the case, or that the unit has a user-accessible SATA or M.2 interface to offer some DIY storage upgrades (without hogging the USB sockets).

In terms of hardware specs that seems to be poor compared to a Raspberry Pi 4. I think the X1 is showing its age, even with a + on the end.

With something like this, the limitation of Androids handling of external storage (it is better than it used to be) often show. It's a PITA getting some emulators to properly see a USB stick on the current (non Pro) Shield TV.

Does Android honestly still have problems? Perhaps based on the fact you are *adding* storage so it's hard to pool after the fact without a full reformat and reinstall of the OS trying to do so?

Wrong the Shield TV GPU will run many circle around the Raspberry Pi 4 GPU but you can't beat the price of the Pi 4

good to see them keeping the shield alive. the stick version seems a bit overpriced so hopefully that's an error. my sheild plays anything i can throw at it videowise on kodi (no plug ins installed), plus it does netflix and amazon prime and most other streaming services. it's a shame i have to use a seperate nowtv stick as sky won't let it run on android tv, but i hardly use that

i also have a 4k firestick which does most of the same stuff (that i use at least), and that was only about £30 in the sales, it's normally about £50. so hopefully they could compete pricewise with that, but i'm all sorted with gadgets for now for 4k tv as long as nothing breaks

i think theres a few tv streaming things like ITV or C4 that don't have ATV apps but i rarely use those and they are built into the tv's. it's just a preferance if one device can play everything from one front end
