Intel was well on it's to killing x86/x64, a few years more without competition from AMD and they would have accomplished it.
ARM sniffed out Intel was weak the last few years and has been working on x86/x64 killer in both home and server for some time now, if they had more time they would have succeed.
Intel can thank their lucky star that they got hold of Jim Keller.
I'm not sure that Ice Lake is going to hit socketed desktops, FWIW. My understanding is that Cooper Lake (14nm) is launching concurrently with Ice Lake on servers next year, which kinda implies one is targeting high end and the other low end. Given Ice Lake has only been announced in dual and quadcore arrangements I'd guess that's the low end?
I literally cannot read what that blue curve is meant to be, dark blue on black seems to be my visual nemesis.

It says ‘GPU’. It is mentioned in the picture description as I found it hard to read even in the 1080p video full screen.

Rumor has it a MS Surface is coming out using ARM, if so, and if it manifests and leverages the efficiencies that ARM processors have over x86/x64, then this could be a game changer for ARM. It would keep them in play at least in the larger device mobile market, which they can levverage to continue their march toward more powerful processors that can better compete with Intel and AMD.
And its all happening on killer 14nm !

And dark blue on black is about as clear as intels plans, maybe a whole new arch IS needed, which starts with efficiency and security then moves onto speed. If thats ARM or Risc-v then go for it EVen the much vaunted cubits were used in biblical computing.
