This is the same chap who on Twitter said Ryzen had low single thread performance before launch.

He jokes about his phone keyboard the tweet after, to be fair.

“Because my knowledge about Intel is too deep, I would get lawyers knocking on my door next day,”

By the way A.M.D has equally smart engineers and they don't need to steal intel employees to come up with better products. If ZEN is killing intel what of ZEN 2?

I don't think this has anything to do with Intel vs AMD matter. It's just a somewhat well known Intel ex-employee that decides to leave. Nobody talked about stealing people.

I can imagine how working in the same place and position for over 20 years can be tiresome. Hope for the best for him.

I bet he'll miss the perks of the job, like free toothpaste from the CPU fabs :)

For some reason he missed Prescott off his list of CPU ranges. I can't imagine why.

You should have a read of some of his stuff on twitter - he is an interesting character indeed! ;)

Technically, AMD still does have lower single-thread performance than Intel, that's why Ryzen has so many cores to make up for it. Although Ryzen did close the gab quite a bit.

When a guy like this leaves a major company like intel, something is wrong.

Personally, I wish M'seur Piednoel every success in his new job.

(Interesting literal translation of his name as “Feet of Christmas” so perhaps I should hope that all his Christmas's come at once.)

But it's a pity he engages in spats on anti-social media though, the early part of that ‘thread’ needs a good bit of moderating - he wouldn't have got away with it here.:) )

“I am informed my management” ?????

This is always a cheap dig at the best of times, as if the writer is telegraphing his/her intellectual superiority over another person on the basis of a typo (yet you didn't notice “publically” in the article itself?).

But in this case, the guy literally designs the best consumer CPUs in the world. The phrase “sit down” has never been more applicable.

Well, in practice he is head of a design team - no one person can design every aspect of a complex processor, although he may come up with the concepts etc.

And as for ‘best’ it depends on what your criteria of ‘best’ is. Best performance, best power consumption figures, best efficiency, best value for money? So many criteria which is why the Intel and AMD fan boys continue to slug it out across the internet. :)

In reality, mfrs will choose the processor that meets the technical specs for a given application. Personally, I'm delighted to see competition in the CPU market because it drives innovation and keeps prices under control, and so I'm pleased to see AMD have developed what appears to be a viable option for high end machines.

I'm sure everyone will jump on me for saying this. But the timing is odd or convenient depending on how you look at his departure, considering the fubar he over saw with the latest hyper threading issue. How could he not have known about that major problem? good riddance quitter!
