PRESS RELEASE

Hoofddorp – 28 January 2019. Buffalo EU B.V., a global provider of network attached storage (NAS), USB storage, wired and wireless networking solutions, announces firmware version 4.20 for its TeraStation 5010/3010 Series, adding synchronisation features for Microsoft OneDrive™.

Microsoft OneDrive Sync functionality allows users with a TeraStation 5010 or 3010 Series NAS from Buffalo to store and access data externally rather than just locally. This includes OneDrive for Business included in Office™ 365 as well as regular accounts and the free 5GB OneDrive storage included in Windows 10. It’s also possible to synchronise multiple OneDrive accounts with the NAS. Buffalo now supports all major cloud services: the manufacturer previously added support for Amazon S3™, Microsoft Azure™, and Dropbox™.

Buffalo considers the hybrid cloud a ‘best-of-both-worlds’ solution to address business efficiency: confidential data can be stored locally on the NAS without relying on third-party services, while ongoing project data can be shared with cloud services and thus viewed and edited externally by select employees. Firmware version 4.20 also enables full Office 365 compatibility, allowing employees to seamlessly edit shared files from within their Office environment.

A hybrid cloud solution also is also ideal for companies with a strict corporate policy, which might not allow individual employees to access a cloud service from their computer or install additional apps for security reasons. Limiting cloud synchronisation to the NAS gives companies better control over shared data and allows Buffalo’s security features to protect sensitive data. Additionally, money can be saved when cloud storage licenses are exclusively distributed to employees who work remotely.

“What we keep hearing from the channel is that the demand for hybrid cloud solutions is increasing”, says Hiroshi Nagao, Managing Director for Buffalo Europe. “By adding OneDrive support to our network storage devices, Buffalo is giving companies that are working with Office 365 more tools at their disposal to be successful in their business.”

More information on Buffalo’s hybrid cloud solutions can be found here. Firmware version 4.20 for TeraStation 5010/3010 is available as a free download today on the Buffalo Service website or by using the Firmware Update feature in the Buffalo management interface.
