Corsair made the decision to diversify from its core performance memory business some time ago, and we've watched that journey with interest.

Flash storage was an obvious direction to go in but Corsair showed its ambition as an all-round enthusiast component-maker with moves into PSUs and chassis in the past couple of years. But now it has decided not to even limit itself to components and go after peripherals with the launch of its audio range.

We spoke to Corsair's director of marketing for audio - Dylan Rhodes - to get an idea of the thinking behind this move and what makes him think Corsair can succeed in a market with so many established incumbents.

Rhodes has considerable pedigree in the PC audio industry and he reveals that Corsair's research revealed demand among enthusiasts for a gaming headset that also performed well in other contexts, such as listening to music.

The attention to detail in the design of the first product - exclusive HEXUS review here - such as removable fabric covers for the ear pads, is consistent with Corsair's core philosophy of catering to the gamer that has everything, and we expect this to be the first in a range of Corsair audio products.
