We were suitably impressed by OCZ's first RevoDrive, which managed to blow the performance of traditional SSDs out of the water. With 540MB/s read and 480MB/s write speeds, the majority of the competition couldn't even come close.

Building on that formula, the company has now unveiled the RevoDrive X2 - and boy, is this thing fast. The PCIe x4 add-in card boasts eye-watering speeds of over 730MB/s for both read and write, which is more than 35 per cent quicker than its predecessor.

It also manages 120,000 4k random write IOPS, which OCZ is corroborating by running IOMeter at IDF showing over 107,000 IOPS.

This blistering performance is achieved by using four SandForce SF1200 controllers linked together in a RAID array -  literally doubling up the original RevoDrive's two. This also allows the capacity to be increased from 480GB up to a maximum of 1TB.

Very impressive figures. I wonder how that translates into real-world performance and if it can support TRIM?

I'll stick my neck out and say it wouldn't, just cos the card features RAID. RAID + TRIM isn't quite here yet :(.
Unless you thrash it, TRIM isn't going to factor much anyway. Maybe after 5 years normal use you'll see a 20% decrease in perf.
Perhaps they will find a way to support the manual tune-up process OCZ call “garbage collection” instead. Apparently the first Revo didn't support either though, so it's not likely.
It doesn't sound *that* much better than the Mk1 Revo Drive. I wounder how much it will cost.
