Nothing drives technology firms madder than having their unreleased products appear on websites.

Here's a case in point. The MSI 890FXA-GD70 is based on AMD's upcoming premier consumer chipset known as 890FX. Continuing on from the 790FX as the enthusiast-orientated core-logic, it packs in a new southbridge with integrated SATA 6Gbps, as well as supporting the soon-to-be-released six-core Phenom II chip that's currently known as Thuban.

The GD70 packs in a healthy dollop of features, including five mechanical x16 PCIe, a single PCIe x1 and a conventional PCI slot. MSI throws in its DrMOS, OC Genie, and APS technologies, too.

We expect it to be priced at around £140 when launched in a couple of weeks' time. The logic improvements are minor over the incumbent, but six-core Thuban and 890FX will provide an interesting alternative to Intel's Core i7/LGA1156/1366 platforms. Tempted?

Hell yeah tempted! This is the board I been waiting for :) Thuban support is a must for my new build.
can't say I'll need the FX part as the 890X should do me (don't do multiple gfx cards!) but hey, if this gets launched first - i'll be up for it :>

Thanks Hexus for the heads up - x

Thuban is a must? I'll hazard a guess and predict that it still wont match up to an i7 920, even with 6 cores vs. 4.

Looks a nice board though. If it is Ā£140, it might become the new board for distributed computing enthusiasts running quad-GPU setups.
That looks a fantastic motherboard

Sure it will be my next buy.
