Always looking for ways to expand on the popular Guitar Hero franchise, the game's founder, Kai Huang, has told The Seattle Times that he is looking into ways to implement Microsoft's controller-free gaming experience, Project Natal into Guitar Hero 6.

Project Natal enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images. Kai Huang told The Seattle Times that "there are a lot of possibilities that technologies like Natal will bring, and we’re definitely exploring those.”

Air guitar anyone? Well, probably not. Project Natal opens up new possibilties for the developer and the franchise, but Huang suggests that the technology may be used in the game for nothing more than to customise your avatar on stage.

“We haven’t made any specific announcements of what we’re doing with new technologies in 'Guitar Hero 6' and beyond, but one of the areas we’re exploring certainly is camera technology and what you can do — track your movements and maybe have your characters on the screen do certain things you’re doing, or personalise it more so it can look more like you on stage rather than just be an avatar."

We really hope that Project Natal offers more excitement than just avatar customisation. Project Natal is expected to be released in 2010.
