The more screens the merrier

Sitting down for a roundtable chat with Intel's Mooly Eden today to discuss the firm's upcoming mobile Core i7 products and Arrandale, HEXUS also managed to snap a few shots of the latest Intel notebook concept, featuring a main screen with three smaller LCD touch screens embedded just above the keyboard.

Giving the media a demo, Eden showed how it was possible to scroll, drag, pan and even push images from the smaller screens up to the main screen, using one's finger, and also how easy it was to control applications and widgets ("snackable information") on the mini screen whilst consuming different data on the main screen.

The laptop was only a prototype, so it sadly won't be on the market for at least another three years, but that might be a good thing, as the current power consumption of the four-screened device was probably not insignificant. The demo didn't even sport a battery, and instead had to be plugged directly into the mains. Still, we can't wait for one of these to get made up properly in a few years time. Check out a handful of additional images on page two.
