Earlier this month, we reported that Microsoft is slashing Xbox 360 prices but now might not be the opportune moment to buy. Our reasoning was Jasper, the codename given to an upcoming Xbox 360 hardware revision that will provide - we hope - a cooler, quieter and more reliable Xbox 360 console.
Today, reports are hitting the web stating that Jasper consoles are filtering through to stores and are now available to buy. However, before rushing out to make your purchase, let's take a closer look at the facts. The seemingly original story appears to have emerged from JoeyGadget.com, and has then been picked up by popular websites such as Engadget.
The rumoured sightings, however, are sourced from 360drives.com - a website which comprehensively lists Xbox 360 lot numbers, motherboards and DVD drive models. The community-orientated website currently has approximately seven users who've claimed to own a Jasper-revised console. Unfortunately, none of the users have confirmed any such ownership with images or other means of proof.
With that in mind, we're afraid there aren't yet any confirmed Jasper sightings. The wait continues...
