Just a quick heads-up to let you know that the classic side-scrolling shoot 'em up, R-Type, which dates back to the arcade days of the 1980's, is set for an all-new outing on the Xbox live arcade!

Original Japanese developer, Irem, won't be in charge of the project, instead Microsoft will be in the pilot's seat.

It's going to be interested to see whether it can truly revive the compelling gameplay of the original, but currently we don't even now if it will actually even be a shooter!

Oh yes! R-Type has always been great game, ever since I first played it on the Amiga.

I'll look forward to trying this. With Geometry Wars 2 having raised the bar, I wonder if R-Type will still have its appeal?
Excellent :D loved this game..
I got R-type and 3 for the Wii as soon as they came on the VC, and loved them - the graphics, the music…. my wife hates it with a passion but who cares.
Big 80's love, i hope the 360 version does well so that they expand it to other formats too.

DS version would be nice too.
HOLY CRAP!

I love R-Type! This is going to be great! Can't wait.
