It was originally announced at the Tokyo Game Show in 2007 and then launched for the North American market in April this year and now finally European gamers will get a chance to get their hands on the Dualshock 3 wireless controller for Playstation 3.

The controller features the wireless design of the Sixaxis wireless controller, but also has rumble capabilities.

In the official press release David Reeves, President and CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe commented "We are delighted to confirm that DUALSHOCK 3 will be released in SCEE territories in early July. We hope this will add to the intense gaming experience for our fans, as we continue to evolve PS3, its software and its peripherals"

Almost all future PS3 releases will support DUALSHOCK 3, and the controller is already compatible with many existing PS3 titles (firmware upgrade 1.94 required).

Dualshock 3 is the only Bluetooth controller combining vibration function and SIXAXIS features.

It will be available in Europe on July 2nd, 2008 and will retail at approximately Ā£32.95.

thats SO last gen
2 years later, and £35 more expensive, than it damn well should have been
I shipped mine in ages ago, cost cheaper than a new normal PS3 pad! :) Why they delayed this is anyones guess over here.
…I thought it was out already? My mate has a 60gig PS3 with the wireless dual shock controller since…well for ages. I don't remember playing a game on his PS3 without that controller.

the ps3 shipped with the “sixaxis” wireless pad, which has no rumble. the dualshock 3 is a sixaxis with the rumble put back in

but it was nothing to do with a lawsuit with immersion technologies inc, no siree. it was just last-gen compared to waving your elbows about to do melee attacks. and it was also impossible to do rumble AND motion sensing. yep.
