At long last, Sony Computer Entertainment America's Eric Lempel, Director of PlayStation Network Operations, has confirmed that PS3 firmware update V2.4 will offer the much-sought after feature, in-game XMB access.

The Xross Media Bar is the PS3 equivalent of the Xbox 360 dashboard, but until the update goes live, gamers have only been to access it outside of playing games.

Via the official Playstation blog, Lempel also tells us that the "update will also include 'trophies,' an exciting new feature that we’ll be providing more details on soon, as well as some other new enhancements.

The news follows yesterday's release of firmware update, V2.36, which improves system stability when playing select PlayStation format software titles.

…ETA?

The headline suggests 2.4 just came out. Surely it should be ‘will bring’, not ‘brings’. :P Although in this case, I'd hedge my bets and put ‘will probably bring’. ;)

Back to school for me, you are of course, correct.
