As a young Wolverine-wannabe, I was a huge fan of the '90s animated series, X-Men. My sister and I both used to wake up early on the weekends just to watch it, and we weren't the only ones. X-Men, which premiered on the Fox Network in 1992, is regarded by many as one of the best cartoons to grace television, ever.

Unfortunately, it was followed up by X-Men: Evolution, an animated series which ran from 2000 to 2003, and largely disappointed fans of its predecessor.

Now, Marvel is back at it and will be airing the next animated outing of the X-Men in 2009, titled Wolverine and the X-Men. This series will tell a story in which the X-Men must reunite, led by Wolverine in Professor Xavier's absence, to prevent a future in which Sentinels rule the world. Without wanting to spoil it, here's the trailer:

Though I'm not entirely keen on the animation, I'm quietly hopeful that this could be a return to the great '90s cartoon we all remember. If the trailer is anything to go by, I'll once again be waking up early to watch it.
