You've got to have something else to do at CeBIT apart from ogle booth babes, eat sausages and stare glassy-eyed at yet another booth showing off the latest all-singing, all-dancing gaming mouse, so AMD has devised a clever idea to keep show visitors amused while also improving their partner relationships.

AMD is at CeBIT in force this year with between 250-200 units spread across the show floor and it is not only supporting the World Cyber Games Samsung Euro Championship, but it has approximately 40 partners at the show, including the likes of Corsair, Cooler Master and Philips amBX.

AMD's commitment to forging partnerships with a range of companies at CeBIT is important to the company, which is why it's cleverly devised 'The CeBIT 2008 Spider Hunt', which achieves that aim and gives attendees the chance to win some great prizes.

The spider hunt involves picking up a leaflet from the AMD stand, or one of the 21 companies taking part in the game, and then visiting each of the companies and getting it stamped by them. If you achieve all 21 companies on the flyer, you get entered into a draw that takes place on the World Cyber Games stage at the end of each day at CeBIT.

I had a look at the small warehouse where AMD is storing its prizes and it was rammed full of graphics cards and chassis; I was told that the company is giving away £30-£40,000 worth of AMD goodies over the duration of the show*.

Amongst the many partners taking part in the spider hunt are Hauppauge, Logitech, Patriot, Thermaltake and Corel. So far, I’ve only got four ticked off, so I've got a long way to go, but I sure wouldn't mind getting my hands on some of those goodies.

* Apologies to readers and AMD for our story initially saying, '£40K a day'. D'oh!
