Speculation rife

Speculation has been rife today as to why exactly Stuart Scott, Corporate Vice President and CIO at Microsoft for two years has been removed from the company.

Speaking on behalf of Microsoft, a spokesperson said only that "Stuart Scott’s employment with Microsoft was terminated after an investigation for violation of company policies. In the interim, Microsoft General Manager Shahla Aly and Corporate Vice President Alain Crozier will assume Stuart’s responsibilities until a replacement is identified".

His biography page on microsoft.com states that he joined Microsoft in July 2005 after having previously held CIO roles at General Electric co. In 2003, he was recognised by CIO Magazine as one of the top 100 CIOs in 2003.

Must have been a big fall out - often companies come out with some slinky PR - ‘departed company’ etc
Violating Company Policies?

I guess he was doing something he wasn't meant to and they kicked him out over it…
well, considering microsofts polocies include not even looking at open source software and not putting easter eggs in software… not exactly unexpected.

although… this does smelly of 10 day old cod
One of El Reg's commentators wondered aloud “…wouldn't have to do with the Computerworld article in which he defends the use of SAP and Siebel CRM in-house at MS, now, would it?!?”

Sounds suspiciously likely, doesn't it…?
He may have had google.com as his homepage, that'd do it. :embarrassed:
