The furore over the leaked Manhunt 2 that mysteriously found its way onto the web seemed to have died down as Rockstar and Take Tow made it clear that this was unrated, play test code that had somehow been leaked.

But then it kicked off all over again when Sky News reported that a statement from Rockstar confirmed that the leak wasn;t from them but somewhere else entirely, "Rockstar accepts the game was leaked onto the web by an employee of a different company who had access to the preview copy. That person has been sacked"

Of course, us being nosey buggers, we wanted to know who, but more details were not forthcoming until Game Politics got this statement:

"Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that a former employee of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has acknowledged his responsibility for the unauthorized online distribution of an unrated play-test version of Manhunt 2 submitted for the European PAL PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system."

What the hell? Someone at Sony leaked the code?

Now I'm sure that on the surface Rockstar and Take Two will be magnanimous about this, but I also bet that under the surface they're bloody fuming...

The whole episode must be supremely embarrassing for Sony... one berk throws a spanner in the works...
