Press Release

Albatron’s new VGA cards converge on largest market segment with DirectX® 10!

Albatron Technology has just announced one of the most exciting news items for VGA cards since the first enthusiast DirectX 10 VGA cards hit the market in late 2006.  The 8600GTS, 8600GT and 8500GT VGA cards are targeting the largest segment in the VGA/gaming market – mainstream users who have waited a long winter to get their hands on an affordable DirectX 10 Graphics Card.

DirectX 10 is the way to go

There is no question that the graphics world is going the way of DirectX 10, evidenced by the scores of exciting DirectX 10 3D games that are spilling into the market. Although most of these games are backward compatible with DirectX 9, they require a DirectX 10 graphics card in order to access the full performance benefits and graphical effects. VGA cards that contain NVIDIA® GPUs with DirectX 10 capability now span all user segments and are currently the only DirectX 10 solutions in the market.

Note that these 3 VGA cards are also optimized and compatible with DirectX 9 games.

Video playback – PureVideo™ HD technology delivers 6 times the detail of standard DVDs

With the imminent arrival of High Definition video media, graphics technology has been furiously gearing up for the daunting task of processing complex, very dense HD information.  These VGA cards boast the ability to offload 100% of Blu-Ray and HD-DVD playback, leaving your CPU to perform other tasks, not to mention reducing CPU power consumption and heat.  PureVideo HD technology is at the core of video playback and delivers outstanding clarity, ultra smooth video and precise image scaling for all movies and videos.  It offers H.264, VC-1, WMV and MPEG 2 decoding that delivers quality that can be as much as 6 times the detail of standard DVD movies.

Essential for accelerating the Windows Vista Experience

Windows Vista is built for 3D imagery and takes advantage of an advanced graphics subsystem, using the GPU to improve 3D performance and response times on your windows desktop.  A powerful discrete graphics card also helps to offload the CPU improving multi-tasking efficiency and increasing productivity.  All three of these DirectX 10 VGA cards are certified for Windows Vista Premium.

The Specs – Compare the Cards

With the 8600GTS, 8600GT and 8500GT, Albatron provides 3 flavors of mainstream DirectX 10 VGA cards; high, mid and low respectively.

In addition, the 8600GTS and 8600GT come with Dual DVI connectors.  The 8500GT comes with one DVI and one D-Sub connector.  All three cards provide TV-Out and can provide SLI™ capabilities.

Adding value to DirectX 9 counterparts

These 3 new cards provide a DirectX 10 alternative for current DirectX 9 VGA cards; the 8600GTS for the 79000GS, the 8600GT for the 7600GT, the 8500GT for the 7300GT or 7600GS.  However, in matching ability and cost, there will be a very significant performance/price gain for all consumers going with DirectX 10.  This is where the excitement is building for the mainstream market segment.

Other features

All of these cards will feature NVIDIA’s full suite of graphics applications including CineFX™ 4.0, OpenGL 2.0 support, Intellisample™ 4.0 Technology, UltraShadow™ II technology, PureVideo™ Technology, Lumenex™ Engine and Quantum Effects™ Technology. And of course, they all support DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0.

DirectX 10 Revolution

The 8600GTS, 8600GT, 8500GT are the final pieces to a revolution that is imminent and certain.  These cards will make DirectX 10 available to all user segments of the market and become the major force behind the latest games and video playback technology.
