HEXUS.E3 The Microsoft conference is still running and there were high hopes that Halo 3 would be shown to World.

The conference began with a more aggresive feel than the Sony or Nintendo events, an impressive trailer of the tactical action shooter, Gears of War was shown - it truly demonstrated the immense power of the Xbox 360, the demo was flawless.

Peter Moore then took to the stage and we get the first mention of high definition content and the success of the Xbox live arcade. Indeed Microsoft have huge plans for the arcade which includes new titles such as Frogger, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Mortal Kombat 3, as well as a new range of arcade games from Konami. I'm sure I heard Paperboy mentioned - woohoo I love that game!

It's time for the trailers and the audience were treated to some fantastic looking games including Lost Planet, Table Tennis, Ninety-Nine Nights, Battle for Middle-earth II, Saint's Row and many others. The exciting news followed with an announcement that Lionhead Studio's Fable 2 will be appearing on Xbox 360, although I'm not too sure whether it was actual in-game footage. A Forza 2 trailer is shown it's revealed that there will be over 300 cars to choose from - it looks better than PGR3!

What is it with poker games on consoles? Anyhow Microsoft latest poker game will make use of the video camera - you'll be able to stare out your opponents live - scarey! He also mentioned an Xbox 360 wireless steering wheel.

It then turned all a bit surreal with talk of Viva Pinata , which will enable gamers to create and customize pinata-filled adventures in their own evolving world - the Xbox live marketplace will be the place to trade items. A colourful demo was shown alongside the presentation.

The Xbox live marketplace is the place that Microsoft is making the big bucks Moore told us that almost every publisher has content that will be available for download and there will be 1000 pieces of content made available by this evening (U.S time). He believes that the demos on the live marketplace are increasing sales in those particular games - (has he played Test Drive Unlimited?). He then told the audience that a full high definition Gears of War: Road to E3 drama will be available to download tonight.

Moore than took of his jacket to unveil a Grand Theft Auto IV tattoo! Rock 'n roll Microsoft! The game is due for release on October 19th 2007 in the U.K.

Moving on to Windows Vista and it's a demo of the unbelievable looking game Crysis, if you haven't already seen the screenshots you'll be stunned when you do. There's mention of how well Oblivion has sold, and a trailer of the psychological action thriller, Alan Wake.

At this point I lost connection, the guys on the ground at E3 haven't attended the conference, so I'm relying on watching it over the net, what a great time to lose connection!

As soon as the conference finishes and we've got further details we'll post them. UPDATE The conference is over. There were more details on Windows Vista and Windows Mobile revealed - thank God I lost connection. However I wouldn't have wanted to miss the Halo 3 trailer at the end!!

We'll bring the Vista and mobile news as soon as we have it.
