PRESS RELEASE

Swann’s new CCTV system provides professional quality surveillance that allows users to deter crime, safeguard family and protect property day and night

Las Vegas – 04 January 2017 - Swann, a global leader in security monitoring solutions, today reveals at CES (LVCC, Central Hall, Booth #14810) the first ever DIY 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) security system, representing the highest leap in pixel number in the history of DIY CCTV. The state-of-the-art Network Video Recorder security system with live viewing and playback has the ability to detect details such as faces and number plates with unparalleled quality and clarity.

The NVR8-8000 system includes four IP66 weatherproof, Ultra High Definition 4K cameras and an eight-channel Network Video Recorder (NVR). Designed to defend homes and businesses day and night, the four UHD 4K aluminium bullet cameras have a night vision distance of up to 30m (100ft).

The incredible 3840 x 2160 pixel, 4K (or 8MP) resolution  offers four times as many pixels compared to 1080p Full HD (2MP), so users may easily view important details and zoom in to see number plates, faces, clothing colours and more, all whilst keeping a clear and sharp image. When the desired details have been found, they can then be transferred to an external USB storage device or over a home or business network.

The 4K Ultra HD range from Swann also has new software analytics notifying users if cameras are tampered with. Zones or lines of interest can also be set up onscreen around key areas such as doorways, windows or fences and the system will notify if there is activity in those areas or someone crosses the line. The system also has face detection to reliably alert if a person appears on camera, scene change identifying crowd movement and other visible environment changes, and camera tampering to identify when a camera is blocked, covered or vandalised. Now users really know what’s happening.

Live viewing and playback is also available on smartphones and tablets via the free SwannView Plus app for iOS and Android, as well as on an HDTV through HDMI or VGA connection to an LCD screen. Users may configure the Network Video Recorder to send email alerts with an attached JPEG image of any recorded activity, allowing for peace of mind while away from home.

The inbuilt 4TB hard drive, expandable to up to 12TB, can record eight channels continuously for over 150 days. Each channel is independently configurable to record when motion is detected, record on schedule or record continuously, and the H.265+ video compression allows for quick  recording and playback that’s 40% more efficient than common H.264 compression technology. For full eight-channel monitoring, users have the option to add four more bullet or dome cameras.

The DIY-friendly system boasts an easy installation with Power over Ethernet, allowing both digital video signal and power to run from the network recorder to the cameras through the same cable. It also uses only one power socket per four cameras, and includes an HDMI cable, power adapter, mouse, four Cat5e Ethernet cables, mounting screws and plugs, operating instructions and four theft deterrent stickers.
