You might have just finished reading through the first GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics card review on HEXUS, where we look very closely at both the new TU116 GPU offering in general, and the Palit StormX sample supplied to us in particular. Of course there will be a raft of follow ups from other brands. Gainward's first trio of efforts was announced a little early, and we saw plenty of leaks of EVGA, Gigabyte, MSI, and more on the run up to today.

Asus is one of the most popular PC component makers and it emailed HEXUS about its latest GeForce GTX 1660 Ti cards, and published a blog post highlighting its ROG Strix GTX 1660 Ti here. You will also seen mention of the Asus Dual, TUF Gaming, and Phoenix versions of the GTX 1660 Ti. There are a lot of very compact cards already known based around the TU116 GPU, so it is interesting to see the triple fan Strix versions today. Nicely Asus UK has shared some GBP recommended pricing with us, so I have enhanced the table below with that data (three prices).

The Asus ROG Strix cards are said to offer 'no compromise' with their Axial-tech fans, MaxContact technology , and therefore their ability to maintain "higher sustained GPU Boost clock rates," during long and heavy gaming sessions. Like many of the cards in the table, there is a dual-BIOS and I've listed the GPU boost in the default setting, while there might be higher settings, depending on the model you look at. The Strix cooler only spins up at 55°C or above with the quiet BIOS active. Owners of the Strix cards can configure their RGB LEDs via Asus Aura sorftware.

Asus Dual Cards are general purpose cards with a pair of IP5X dust-resistant fans and don't seem to be very different from the TUF series in specs or performance. To verify their 'TUFness' Asus checks both the TUF and Dual cards during a "stringent 144-hour validation program". Lastly, Asus has the single-fan Phoenix GTX 1660 Ti graphics cards. It says that these are great upgrades to users of old 700 and 900 series cards and the Wing-blade fans with drooped tips pack dual-ball bearings for durability.

Check out your favoured suppliers for these graphics cards and you might find some offerings at under the MSRPs. Scan has Palit, PNY, and MSI cards available now, but others from the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, and EVGA all seem to be on pre-order at the time of writing. Keep an eye on the HEXUS press release section for details of other brand's GTX 1660 Ti efforts as they come in. Nvidia has a partner gallery showing off lots of third party designs on its official GTX 1660 Ti web page.

Game Ready Driver

In related news, Nvidia has released a new driver with official support for the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. You can read more about it on the GeForce blog, where you will also find out the new driver is optimised for Anthem and DiRT Rally 2.0.

This is insane, WHO will even buy one of these cards at those prices? the vega 56 is much faster for £250 especially if undervolted, and the top strix oc card is £350! that's RTX 2060 territory, a massively faster card. Nvidia has gone mad, the top end of these cards should be no more than £230.

It is no different at the top end either, for a strix 2080 you may as well buy a Ti!
