Taipei, Taiwan, 30th November 2018 – A compelling new option has been added to GIGABYTE’s HPC product portfolio with the release of the G191-H44, a 1U dual socket 4 x GPGPU server ideal for workloads in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning and for technical computing applications in financial services, life sciences and oil and gas exploration.

The G191-H44 provides powerful parallel computing capabilities with a dense capacity of 4 x dual slot active or passive-cooled GPU cards. Each side of the system tray at the front and rear has a large bay for a GPU card, which is installed via a PCIe x16 (3.0 x16) expansion slot from a riser card connected to the main motherboard.

Despite its compact size and dense GPU capacity the G191-H44 does not sacrifice CPU performance either, supporting dual Intel Xeon Scalable Processors to power compute-intensive workloads. Each CPU socket on the main motherboard supports the maximum of 6 channels of DDR4 memory up to 2666 MHz, and the system features 24 x DIMM slots (12 per socket) for a total capacity of over 3TB of memory per system. The ingenious layout & design of the G191-H44 defeats its rivals that only feature an inferior number of DIMM slots due to mechanical space restrictions. The G191-H44 is also ready for the next generation of Intel Xeon Scalable processors with Optane DC (Apache Pass) Persistent Memory, with support for a maximum of 12 Apache Pass modules.

Again, the ingenious layout of the G191-H44 allows for outstanding thermal cooling performance by featuring 14 x 4cm cooling fans (including 3 for each GPU), which is at least 40% more than that of the nearest competitor, and allows the G191-H44 to support the highest CPU TDP of 205W as well as a full complement of GPGPU cards.

Storage wise, the G191-H44 can support up to 4 x SATA SSD or HDD drives to store larger data sets used for machine learning or scientific simulation workloads: 2 x 2.5” hot-swap drives at the front of the system, and 2 x 2.5” fixed drive bays located internally. And in front of the internal drive area is a bay for two front facing MD2 (low profile) expansion cards via two full PCIe x16 (Gen3 x16) expansion slots. The rest of G191-H44’s I/O connectivity (including dual 1GbE LAN ports and a dedicated management LAN port) are also conveniently located on the front side of the unit together with the drive bays and expansion slot bays.

The G191-H44 also provides mission-critical reliability and power efficiency by featuring dual redundant 2000W 80+ Platinum digital power supplies.

The G191-H44 is ideal to be used as a platform for NVIDIA’s Tesla V100 GPGPU, and also has been optimized to be used with Mellanox’s InfiniBand EDR and 100GbE high speed networking products, providing your organization with a compact but powerful supercomputing platform.
