Ryse: Son of Rome on PC

Crytek has announced in a blog post that the PC version of Ryse: Son of Rome will be shedding microtransactions entirely. The PC version of this Xbox One launch tiltle is due to arrive on 10 Oct.

The developer stated "we have also removed the optional microtransactions that were present on the Xbox One," towards the end of a blog post which gave a comprehensive list of PC exclusive features it sought to highlight. According to Crytek "embracing the power of PC" means 4K resolution support and a long list of customisable graphical settings to twiddle with in multiple panels.

The microtransactions on the Xbox One version of Ryse gave players the choice to shell out cash, on top of the game's $59.99 price tag, for armour kit 'shortcuts' - this way you could rank up your character's stats. The removal of the option was not explained by Crytek.

Crytek confirms that the PC version will feature all four Ryse DLC packs for no extra change, all at once. The bonus DLC adds over a dozen maps and five additional skins, alongside the Survival Mode to the game's multiplayer action.

Ryse will also benefit from support for Steam Achievements, Trading Cards, Leaderboards and cloud saving. It is available for pre-order now on Steam, those who pay up front will receive an exclusive digital copy of the game's soundtrack. You can have a listen to one of the tracks on SoundCloud now.

Ubisoft to produce more smaller games

In other gaming news today, a new report suggests that Ubisoft is aiming to make more smaller scale games, similar to Child of Light. The well received game has prompted the publisher to pursue more games which are not necessarily designed to become huge franchises, according to GameSpot.

"We will encourage other initiatives like Child of Light and there's a chance that we will have many more games like that in the future," Ubisoft Montreal's VP of Creative, Lionel Raynaud said. "I already have many different projects that are in the pitch stage." Hopefully Ubisoft's efforts will prove that small ones are more juicy.

And company of the year award goes to… Crytek! (the basis that it's a perfect port)

I should say gaming company really - there are other companies that are good too (I hope).
I whole heartedly approve of this, this game looks really awesome. And them doing this makes it even sweeter.

Hats off to crytek.
What they mean to say is

“Thanks to everyone paying over the odds for our Xbox version, we've got enough money we can try this sales technique on the PC version”
Yeah, Great News, i will see Crytek Power Again after Crysis3 :D
Getting a 4k monitor is getting more tempting little by little. Just need to wait for a dramatic price drop XD.
