PRESS RELEASE

Philips 3D Gioco display with Ambiglow technology receives iF award 2013

United Kingdom, January 2013 - MMD, the leading technology company and brand license partner for Philips, today announced that the new Philips Gioco Ambiglow display has won the prestigious iF Design award for 2013. Recognized the world over, the iF seal of quality is awarded each year to honour excellence in product design, and is sponsored by the International Forum Design GmbH, Hanover (Germany).  The award-winning Gioco display with Philips Ambiglow technology - crafted to deliver a truly immersive 3D gaming experience - was launched onto the market just a few weeks ago.

Testament to success

"Naturally, we're delighted to win the iF design award 2013 for the Philips Gioco Ambiglow display," said Thomas Schade, Vice-President Europe at MMD. "It reaffirms the commitment of MMD to distinctive design, combined with the excellent imaging quality and resolution that today's users are seeking. The award is a tremendous boost for the Philips Ambiglow display so soon after its launch, and shows we have the right focus."

The 27-inch Gioco sports a minimalistic yet stylish design that is quietly understated for a sophisticated impression. With the latest display panel technology, the Gioco has a reduced outer bezel thickness for minimal distraction and maximum viewing size. The unique diamond faceted back and special stand, combined with premium dark bronze or black cherry sparkle finish, exudes elegance.

Ambiglow: excitement intensified

Apart from its design, what makes the Gioco so special is the Philips Ambiglow technology, which delivers a more engaging 3D viewing experience. It works by casting a halo of light matching the image on the surrounding wall. This visually enlarges the screen image, intensifies the viewing experience and brings 3D games and movies to life. It also reduces eye strain and offsets reflections and glare from room lights, without sacrificing correct colour perception.

The iF awards will be presented at the Design Awards Night on February 22 2013 at BMW World in Munich. More information can be found at www.ifdesign.de.
