It has been a whole twelve years since the last instalment of the hack-and-slash series, Diablo II was released, however, the game remains one played even by today's selective generation, despite ageing graphics and a long completed storyline; seeing the series build-up an ever increasing following.

Diablo III is scheduled for release tomorrow in the UK, though with digital downloaders able to play from 11pm BST, this evening. An Amazon rep took time from his busy schedule, no doubt packaging copies of Diablo III ready for shipping, to announce that the game had set pre-order records, "Today, it became the most pre-ordered PC game of all-time on Amazon.com - even exceeding pre-orders for Blizzard's own StarCraft II and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm."

For those few still unfamiliar with the Diablo series, the game focuses on an addictive hack-and-slash style gameplay, originally unravelling story through conversations with NPCs and monster-killing quests, with modern focus very much on the discovery, creation and trade of rare items through Blizzard's online Battlenet system. The story from Diablo II saw Diablo, the Lord of Terror, who had been banished to the mortal realm and sealed within a soul stone attempt to corrupt those around him and reunite with his fellow prime evils, Mephisto and Baal.

We wonder exactly what story Diablo III will have in store for the millions who have already and will be purchasing the game over the coming weeks and, will you be amongst them?

Yeah of course it was, that is the reason why they were so unorganised and didnt ship it early like everywhere else has done! Amazon knew this would be big yet ignored it and took it as any other game, infact probably organised it worse than others.

Hopefully i get mine tomorrow but i doubt RM are that fast from amazon!.
My CE was shipped today, hoping to get it tomorrow. Was hoping to have it for the server switch on tonight but that's life.
The demo was good, well polished and great mechanics so it's a shame that they spoilt it by making it online only.
I hope mine arrives tomorrow. I'd settle for the next day even, but when I've had something pre-ordered for months and it doesn't arrive for over a week (not amazon I'll add, but a certain other popular Jersey-based etailer who told me over a week later when I called that they were out of stock… but mine would be in their next shipment - if you take a pre-order that early and don't have sufficient stock, surely it'd be polite to at least let the customer know!)it takes the ****.

Except for when buying ltd/collectors editions, I'd gladly go with the digital downloads, only hard copies tend to be £5-£15 cheaper.
:-s
I've gone for one digital and one collectors, guaranteed next day delivery is DPD, they give you a 1 hour slot on the day, but still I miss gameplay :( Always a day or two early shipping very angry with amazon (moaned and got delivery for free mind you).
