Enermax, just showing off, really

I have to be honest and admit to liking Enermax. I’ve had the same Enermax PSU powering my system through all of its various upgrades for over three years now. It’s never given me a moment’s trouble and has outlasted three mainboards and two CPUs.

That Enermax produce reliable, quality power supplies is pretty much a given in my opinion but at CTS 2005, they were pushing one of their 330W PSUs to the limits. A glance at their stand would’ve revealed a wall of 64 fans all blowing away quite merrily. But look a little closer and there was more to be seen.

A quick look behind the wall showed that a single 330W Enermax PSU was powering all 64 fans on its own. Sure, it was sweating like a long distance runner in a neoprene suit on a sunny day, but it was getting the job done.

But why torture a PSU so? It was all in the name of ‘Enlobal’ a new fan from Enermax which claims to be low noise and low wear due to its Magnetic Barometric Bearing system. Simply put, a system of magnetic fields within the fan reduce friction and thus noise, increasing reliability and extending the life of the fan considerably. And added to this is Enermax’s patented speed regulator which is house in one corner of the fan to easily provide the perfect balance between cooling and noise… Oh, and if you’re wondering why you can see a shot of a fan running underwater, I’ll pass that over to Enermax’s Paul Chung to answer “It’s because we can, ok?”. Fair enough.
