If you're planning to pick up a pre-owned copy of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, then be prepared to shell out some extra cash for an online pass to access the game's multiplayer content.

In an official statement made to Destructoid, Sony Computer Entertainment America has seemingly confirmed that all future Sony titles will require the single-use pass.

"Online Pass will be incorporated into Uncharted 3 and future Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS) games with online functionality. We will provide further information in the future."

Resistance 3 was Sony's first title to use the "PSN Pass" following in the footsteps of EA, THQ and Ubisoft, all of whom have also been pushing the online-pass scheme.

Sony suggest all future titles will require the ‘PSN Pass’

Yet no announcements of across-the-board price cuts to compensate owners for the decimation of the re-sale market……

I really think Sony needs to remember what happened last time they took something from legitimate PS3 owners…..
… and so the extra pay on line option becomes a necessity. :(

No need. Games that are already owned can still be sold. You will buy the new games with the knowledge that you can't sell them on. There is no issue. If you don't like it, don't buy ‘em.

Doesn’t seem any different to EA's “online pass”. A shame it's needed, but it's clear that developers can't keep supporting users that they get no revenue from.

I don't buy them…and I own a PS3.

Console games are already a complete rip-off. More expensive then the PC version…..yet less time and effort spent on them, lower gfx quality, etc……and they are now completely destroying the second-hand (and I presume, rental) market as well.

Complete and utter greed…..yet another step to ensure crap games still make a profit!

i agree but releasing on consoles will always be more expensive than its pc variant as they have to pay sony/microsoft licenses. dont forget most consoles also make a loss and recoup through consumers buying games

and yes… MP codes are a PITA.. but they have to make money somewhere considering it seems as though the 2nd hand games industry is huge.
